Gas gauge not working

The needle is attached to a stepper motor that receives information from the car's computer. If the motor starts to go bad, it will only move some of the time when the computer tells it to move, which can lead to it pointing in all sorts of weird directions.

In order to replace the stepper motor, you need to pull off the dashboard, remove the whole instrument cluster (which houses the speedometer, tachometer, oil gauge, etc), crack that open, desolder the motor from the circuit board, and solder a new one in it's place.

It's not that hard to do, really, but you if you screw things up you'll have to buy a new instrument cluster (or live without a gas guage, which you're basically doing anyway).

You should be able to buy a stepper motor for under $5. Just be sure it's the right kind for your car, since stepper motors come in all shapes & sizes.

Wire on one speaker is loose...can get sound only by jiggling and holding wire just so...can I replace the wire? how? thanks!

Which speaker? Assuming you mean the external wires, one speaker has as simple twin lead, but the one with the volume controls is much more complex. Off hand if you are asking, you may not have the required skills to make the repair. :(

I have a GE D52GW12 rear projection tv. It seems to just loose power and turn off at random times. I already tried different outlets to get it working again.I can get it back working if I wiggle the power...

The tv a/c power cord have internal damages short on the head of the a/c plug itself. This work job is pretty simple if u can do a basic soldering jobs and have tools like a soldering iron and a roll of solders.Look around in ur house for a table portable lamp u don't used anymore unsolders and take that portable lamp a/c power cord.It have very simular design and make of a power a/c cord.Take the tv aparts simplely just unsolder the old tv power a/c cord and replace it with a portable table lamp a/c power cord. Those stars srews on the tv are called Allan wrench screws, must a have a set of Allan wrench screws drivers to use take out this screws out of the tv.Some ealier DLP tvs set made by GE are using these Allan wrench screws, tries to make it much more difficult to take the tv aparts as GE they're trying not to allow tvs owner to take the tv aparts.Or have any friend to help u can do it,have a soldering iron,a rolls of solders, have basic soldering skills.A Allen wrench screws drivers set u can buy it anywhere in a hardware store.

I have had my 54inch Plasma for just over a year now and on Sunday there was a loud pop and then it cut off. Afterwards when my husband tried to see if it would come back on and the power light was...

If you have a soldering iron and supplies its very simple
You can buy a cheap iron from maplin or from ebay for £10
You will need to read up some basic skills on soldering

Most likely a Capacitor has blown or the internal fuse has gone

Internal Fuse cost about 30 pence (make sure its an exact match)

Capacitors cost about 50 pence (you can tell if its blown because they look buldged on top, not flat)

So simple just de solder the old components, and re solder new ones

I repaired my TV like this last week total cost about £2

The Tv shop wanted £80 LOL

if you still have warranty left, Panasonic or the retailer have to replace it free of charge!!!
or if you are out of warranty and dont want to repair yourselves, GOOGLE the sales of goods act (which says expensive electronics should last 6 years)
to get a refund / partial refund based on depreciation

How can I repair the digital clock in a 2000 Honda CR-V? I hear the repair is rather simple. Clock just died.

If it isn't the fuse then it is an internal issue. The easiest fix is it is solder on the the thin resistors on the circuit board (sometimes the soldering goes "bad"). Open up the clock and look at the resistor soldering, if they look cracked then they need to be re-soldered. I offer a convenient repair solution at, lifetime warranty and I repair more than just the resistors if needed.

Where can I buy 1995 Accord PGFMI relay besides the dealer?

Don't buy a new one, just pry the cover off of it with a flat head screwdriver and look close where all the sharp pins are sticking up on the board to find the broken solder connection(s). Heat the faulty pin with a soldering iron until the solder puddles around it and your good to go. The crack in the solder will be smaller than a human hair, look close & wiggle it and you'll see the loose connection. There is usually no need to add solder, what is there is enough, it just needs melted again.

In the meantime you can tap the relay while you're tuning the key and it will usually start. This has been going since 1986 with Accords, Preludes, etc. Good luck...

Tv pic has redbluegreen images pic distorted

This is a convergence problem that can be as simple as poor solder connections at the convergence ICs or defective ICs. If you feel that you want to attempt the repair yourself, please update this with that indication and additional details and instructions will follow. The parts for this repair will run about $40-$60.

Disk drive plays cd but not anything else

This is more than likely your laser that is dead and its possibly a
Samsung or Hitachi drive, be careful when
buying a new laser because there is a lot of dodgy ones around at the
minute which can damage your machine or
at the very least will be inferior and not last long.

if your 360 reads DVD's but not games it may be repairable but if it wont
read anything then your better off replacing the laser. strip down the
console and strip the DVD drive, take out the laser and look underneath
it, it will have a code such as HD57 or something else, note that down.
Visit ebay and search for the laser with the same code, buy it, fit it in
and make sure you de-solder the static blob of solder before using it
(search the net about this or ask the seller) and then try your machine
again :)
