Is it a new hard drive? You may need to load the driver if it is new. Try using recovery mode if not. Otherwise you may need to contact the manufacturer.

The hard drive is not recognized by a osx 10.4.11 laptop

There should be no need for a driver for an external hard drive by any manufacturer, so if the drive is not working with your Mac, then I would say that either the drive is formatted in a standard that the Mac does not know or it is not formatted at all. In either case, try it on another machine (especially if you have a Windows-based machine available to you) and see whether the drive works (as it could also be a defective drive). If so, then that would just indicate that there is a problem with the drive being recognized by the Mac and, therefore, you just need to determine the problem in communication between the Mac and the drive. At that point, I would suggest getting in touch with a local computer support professional to assist you and get you up and running.

Driver for hp mini 1034-NR, because doesn't detect the hdd

Drivers for hard drives are automatically initialized unless you are setting this up as RAID. If your drive is not being recognized in a machine, plug it into another laptop or desktop or dock to rule out the controller or cable being an issue.

Enter your BIOS setup to determine if it's being recognized by the system. If not, your drive is most likely faulty.

When i turn my laptop on it say no boot device enter boot device and press any key i havent got one could i reset my hp mini lapotop and start fresh with it?

The "no boot device" error is caused by the system not recognizing your hard drive. The drive has failed in some way and the laptop can no longer read from it. You will need to replace the hard drive before you can reload your laptop.

Took PS3 on plane as carry on, now I get a ?cannot find harddisk"

The X-Ray machine most likely wiped your hard drive. To check, take off the side door, take out the hard drive, put it back in and see if it recognizes it. If not, reformat the hard drive in your computer and return it to the PS3. If this still doesn't work, buy a new hard drive for the system. Any size 2.5" laptop hard drive will work.

Problem It reads press f1 retry boot, press f2 set up? How to do it. I do not have a recovery disc. thanks mits

Sounds like its not seeing your hard drive or you have corrupt system files and windows isn't booting.

Press F2 to go into the setup and make sure the hard drive is being recognized. If it is recognized then that means windows is corrupted and you'll need to reinstall your laptop back to factory defaults. If the hard drive is not being recognized in there then you'll need to reseat the hard drive back into the slot.

Then turn the laptop on and press f2 to go back into the setup. If the hard drive is now being recognized then see it if boots into windows. If it doesn't then you'll need to restore your laptop back to factory defaults.

If the BIOS still doesn't show the hard drive then your hard drive is bad and would need to be replaced.

Windows failed to start

Sounds like windows i corrupted. Try this. When you first turn on the laptop. Hold down the ALT key and keep pressing the F10 key. If this works it should bring you into the internal system restore for your laptop and you can restore your system back to factory default. If you can't do this then try going into your BIOS and see if the hard drive is recognized in there.

If your hard drive is recognized then you'll need to get a windows vista installation cd. If your hard drive is not recognized in there then your hard drive is bad and would need to be replaced.

The machine should recognize that there is a hard drive there, if it doesn't then the hard drive has crashed or failed. You will have to replace it.
