Question about HP Photosmart 3310 Printer

1 Answer

I have an HP Photosmart 3300 All-in-One series. The ink cartridges are all full, or close to full. If I turn it off and on, or unplug it and plug it in again, an error message appears on the screen that says, "Ink system has failed. Unable to copy, receive faxes, or print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc118a0001. I've read the manual and tried everything I could think of in an attempt to remedy the problem with no luck. Any suggestions?

Hello.

The solution could be as simple as changing your cartridge. But, check the expiration date. HP hard-codes in an expiration date on the cartridges. Use the cartridge before the expiration date.

Hope this helps.

    Hi,

The cartridges are well-before expired and I've uninstalled and installed them carefully and quickly. Nothing has fixed the problem. I also tried unplugging the USB cable and resetting the printer, but that didn't work either. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, Mike.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

    Have you tried
cleaning or replacing the printheads? Open the cover, remove the print cartridges and
clean the printhead contacts carefully with a q-tip and isopropyl
alcohol (or hot water) until the contacts are clean.

Wipe Down the Cartridge Contacts

Turn on the printer and open the cover where the ink cartridge is located. Remove the cartridge.

Remove the cartridge and use a clean, lint-free, dry cloth to gently wipe the contacts.

Wipe from the top of the contact to the bottom. Do this for each contact.

Place the HP ink cartridge back in the carriage. Turn the printer off for a minute.

Turn the HP printer on. Use the printer to print a test page. If this does not correct the problem, move onto Section 3.
Reset the HP Deskjet and Photosmart Printers

Turn on the HP Deskjet or Photosmart printer, open the cover and remove both the black and color cartridge. Close the cover.

Remove the power cord from the outlet and disconnect the cables running to the computer and/or router. Wait one minute, and then plug in the power cord and then the cables.

Open the cover and install the black and color ink cartridges. Turn the printer on.

Turn the HP printer on. Use the printer to print a test page. If this does not correct the problem, you will need to buy new ink cartridges. Office Max or Wal-Mart have ink cartridges for almost every model of HP Deskjet, Photosmart and Officejet printers.
Reset the HP Officejet and HP PSC All-in-one Printers

Turn on the Officejet or PSC all-in-one printers.

Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and wait one minute.

Plug the power cord back into the printer. Press the On button and hold until printer turns on.

Print a test page to see if this has fixed the problem. If not, you will need to buy a new color ink unit at any office supply store such as Office Max.

My c4180 printer says Ink cartridge problem. Remove and check colour cartridge. Cant get message to go away. I use original Hp ink cartridges

If the color cartridge contacts are clean and there is stil ink in the cartridge.
What you could try is to remove both ink cartridges.
Close cover and turn off printer and unplug the printer.
Wait at least 15 minutes for the printer to reset to clear memory.
Plug the printer back in and turn on and install the ink cartridges.
If you cartridge is not empty and has not expired.
You may call HP and ask for a free replacement.

I have a hp c7280 printer with a error code OXC18A0101 what does it means

Hi,

The "Oxc18" series errors can be removed by resetting the printer. Unplug the USB cable from the printer, remove the ink cartridges. When the "Insert ink cartridges" message appears unplug the power cord from the printer. Wait 1 minute (at least), then reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer if it didn't come on by itself. Reinsert the ink, close the unit and print a calibration page if prompted to do so. Finally reconnect the USB cable to the printer. If this doesn't work, the unit needs service (or replacement if the service call will cost more than a new printer).

Thank you!!

HP Photosmart C6288 Ink System Failure

Turn off the machine, unplug the power cord from the back of the machine, remove the ink cartridges, wait 2 min, plug the power cord back in, press the on button, wait until the printer prompts that the ink cartridges are missing, replace ink cartridges. If this doesn't clear the error you may need to re-prime the ink lines to fix it. Instructions for doing this are at http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/hp-photosmart-ink-system-failure-1/.

Black ink will not print on Photosmart C6150; Ink

I'd do the reboot of the printer.Turn it off, unplug for 60 seconds, plug it back in,turn it back on and see if the black will work. After plugging back in it should clean the print head and then you can do a test page to make sure.
