SOURCE: The problem is i cant play mp3 or DVD s in my

Hi I am vortash I think you may just need a cd CD cleaner to cure your problem , most people overlook that DVD's need to be cleaned now and again as dust collects on the laser lens and sometimes just need cleaning ,
Get yourself a cd disk cleaner one that has both a fabric felt side for polishing the lens and a brush side for cleaning it ... Regards Vortash

My philips dvd player has stopped playing CD's and DVD's and on the display screen it shows "root". i have had this DVD player for 16months. Can you help me?? cheers

Usually "ROOT" is an indication that the player has read the DVD.

ROOT means that the DVD is in the main menu screen.

Sounds like the DVD player is ok, but you may have a loose connection somewhere.

Check all of your AV connections between the TV and DVD.

Also make sure that the TV is set to the same AV channel as the connection you are using.
E.G. if you have connected the DVD to the AV 1 socket of the TV, make sure that the TV is set to channel AV 1.
