It could be a bad motor or capacitor. It also might not be getting any power. If it uses a head pressure switch or a condensor temp control to slow the fan on cooler days, it could be that also.

Air condition motor not going on

check to see if the fan is running if not it has frozen up over the winter. turn off fuses to a/c unit then try to turn fan by hand,if not soak down fan bearings with penetrating oil like PB Blaster keepmoving fan blade back and forth until it spins freely. Then try turning on the power to a/c unit if motor then turns fan freely , shut it down again and use a good coat of a-1 motor oil (ELECTRICAL) on the fan brgs. This should get you through for another year or so. On the other hand if fan will not spin by the motor now but spins by hand then the fan motor is bad.

The first thing you should do is make sure the fan turns freely by hand. If it does then check the capacitor and replace it if it's bad. If the fan doesn't turn freely then you may need a new fan.

Fan not moving

first, with power off,try to manually turn the fan by hand,it should turn freely and coast to a stop by itself, then if so,there is what they call a "dual-Capacitor" inside the unit and one side of this capacitor is the motor start/run capacitor and they go bad,it is a silver can with 3 terminals marked F/C/H fan/common/hermetics (for the compressor), and will say something like 5uf./35uf at 440 volts A.C. on the body of this component go get a replacement at most electrical outlets

Turn the thermostat as low as it will go and have someone stand out side, they should here the condensor fan and compressor come on at the same time. They are two distinctive sounds so you should
be able to tell if the compressor is running.

If nothing happens and you are skilled with electrical
you can turn power off and remove the electrical
cover to the outside unit. Restore power and carefully
push in the contactor, if the fan and compressor
starts you have a thermostat or low voltage problem.

If just the outdoor fan runs on any attempt, more than likely you need a new capacitor.

I have an old Tempstar air condition and when I turn it on the compressor runs and the fan looks like is is wanting to turn but it quits. HELP me

Check the voltage on the fan connections. Bad connections cause resistance to current. If connections & voltage are good than the problem is probably your fan motor if its clean from dirt/grease/dust etc. Plug off the unit and try to spin fan blades with a pencil and observe if rotor is turning freely. If its spin normal than again your fan motor is not good.

If its try to spin on its own when the units turned on and creates excessive heat, this indications generally pointed an abnormal resistance problem at the circuitry or on the power consumed points of the unit.

Fan blade won't turn, but will slowly turn if given a push. What is the problem? How do I fix it?

Replace the fan motor capacitor. If that does not correct the problem you will have to replace the fan motor.

Compressor not doing much

I am assuming that you are talking about a central ac unit. On a central air unit the outside fan must be running whenever the compressor is. If it's not the compressor will shut off from overheating withing minutes. First you need to shut off the unit for several hours and let it cool completely down. Then turn it on briefly to see if the compressor starts and see if the fan tries to start.( I am assuming the compressor starts and runs.) If the fan won't start try testing the capacitors. There are usually two one for the fan one for the compressor. Sometimes there will be one combo one. Mark the wires and remove the capacitor. Get it tested and if bad replace it. This will probably do the job. If not test for current at the fan motor. Also test to see if it turns freely. The motor may need to be replaced. This will run about $50. The capacitor should always be replaced when the motor is changed anyway.

Duo Therm A/C unit will not run

It appears you may have a bad fan motor the reason the compressor stops is it is kicking out a low pressure switch to protect the compressor. You may be better taking it to an RV shop because I think you will have to remove the evap coil to change out the fan motor.

Feel the motor and see if hes hot ...... spin the fan by hand and see if it spins freely  if not the bearings have seized up.   So either rebuild the fan motor simply by replacing the bearings and oiling them and that should fix your problem.    IF the fan spins freely   OHM out the fan  and make sure there is no shorts or openings in the fan.     if your fan motor checks out good both mechanically and electrically  then your next step is to check the capacitor and control board
