Question about Coleman Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Maytag Air Conditioner Model# M6Y14F2B - unit has started changing set temperature by itself. Example: set at 72°, will hear unit beep (sometimes once othertimes several over a few minutes) and when checked temp has been changed to higher temp according to how many beeps. Have had this window unit for about 3 years and this is the first season it has ever done this. It happens randomly and on all mode and fan speed settings.

SOURCE: AC changes temperature by itself!

If it's not some sort of built in economizing feature, someone else isn't getting up and changing the temperature while you are asleep and the air conditioner fairy is playing tricks, then the control PCB is in need of repair and will have to be repaired through a sears authorized repair center.
I am a bit surprised that it will allow you to set the temperature to a low 70 degrees as this is pushing the limits of an air conditioner. They tend to freeze the coils at around that temperature.

You have some issues that probably need to be addressed by a Certified Tech asap. There's an off chance that it could be just thermostat related. If you feel confident on doing what I'm about to instruct go ahead and try it.If you turn off electricity to your unit(should be marked as A|C or furnace or the like if you have the unit on and turn off at the panel it's easier to locate) you can take the cover off your thermostat and you will find various wires. Unscrew the R, Y, and G wires(if they;re not colored red yellow green make a diagram as to which goes where) and twist them together, Then turn electric back onto unit. If the unit runs normally as it should, then you have a thermostat problem and need to get a new one right away. Remember you unit is worth $2,000 to $6000 don't let and electrical malfunction compromise the value, if it.s not the thermostat get someone qualified to look at it. Leave it off til they get there. Good Luck

Un plug a/c from wall and remove the screws from the electrical compartment of the unit and locate the thermostat, remove the 2 wires of the thermostat and use ohms meter to check the part for continuity, if you dont have continuity with t-stat turned down below room temp., replace thermostat.Good luck.

Maytag M7Y15F2A-D A/C - won't turn on -long beep then nothing

The beeping might be an alarm that indicates the coils are iced over by too much humidity in the air...and/or the unit is overheating etc.
shut off power to the unit for a few hours, go out somewhere if it is too stuffy inside.. see if the unit operates better when you return... I also suggest not running these things constantly, this causes some units to ice up and **** up the power..
hope the unit does get replaced, newer ones are more efficient.

Unit will not power on

not enough info. on these models when you plug in the unit to an outlet you should hear a beep. that would tell you , you are getting power and the cord is good. if you dont hear a beep, then i would say the board or display board is bad. roughly about 60-70 dollars. we may stock that part if your interested. 813-908-2002 all brands appliance tampa fl.

I have a Maytag A/C window unit model number M6Y14F2B , 14000 BTU and on the display screen its showing a error code of EE. I would like to know what this means and can it be fixed.

Why should I tell you how I fixed the problem for free if you can't even tell me how to solve this problem for free. I just wanted to know what the error code meant and if it can be fixed or is the unit junk.

Our maytag window air conditioner (12,000 BTU; model#M^Y12FB-J
changes the temperature on its own. And it always goes up in temperature as high as 88 degrees and of course then it isn't cooling at all. I checked to see if frost or ice had collected on the copper tubing but it hasn't. I unplugged it for 1 hour to see if it would reset but that didn't help. It is about 2 years old. When it first happened, it seemed that if I used the remote it would stay at the right temp., but now it doesn't matter. It's hot and humid in my house - help!

We had the same problem and changed the setting to auto and the unit seems to be working properly now. Not sure if this solves the problem, but for the past 1/2 hour the unit has stopped jumping between 00 and the temp we set.
