Rinnai spares are available from the company through service agents depending on where you are. Let me know the model, approximate year you bought it and where you live and I might be able to find out who is closest to you or at least a number to ring.

You could try Rinnai.com.au on the web

What does it take to convert a Rinnai R75LS water heater from propane to natural gas?

Contact Rinnai.
Gas control valve is different, burner is different, burner and gas valve must match, threads are regular instead of reverse, dip switches probably have to be changed since combustion of NG is not as hot. Maybe different sensors. Pressures are lower with NG.

Rinnai avenger 25 plus, gas heater is making a really loud noise after about 20 mins of being on. Sounds like thunder.Could possibly be air in the line. Is this dangerous? I turn it off straight away....

Brad, typically it's what is called a "Cold Burner". This usually occurs when the outside temperatures are below freezing for sometime and exterior gas regulator freezes up. However, it can occur for another reason. The air intake valve on the burner is clogged and the gas to air ratio is off. In essence, it's what you thought, it's sucking air. But, it's not air in the gas line. Unless, you're real familiar with working on Duct-less gas heaters, it's best left to an authorized Rinnai Service Technician. Rinnai, is very particular about who works on their appliances. Plus, it's probably over due for annual cleaning and service. I the meantime, turning the burner OFF, when it happens, is about all you can do. Let it rest a couple of minutes and turn the burner back up slowly.

Hope this helped you understand what is happening. Cheers....

I have a rinnai LPG 6 burner gas heater, it starts fine but wont ignite the middle left burner. It has a blue flame over the top that occasionally radiates down the burner. All the other 5 burners work...

sounds like the injector hole is too largefor that burner have you had it converted reciently
lpg injectors are only half the size hole of natural gas injector, could have a blockage in the injector diverting the gas flow

Following removal of filters from Rinnai gas heater (2 years old), I vacuumed both filter and back of gas heater but it still smells ilke gas when filters putr back on and heater tunred on.

Although you cleaned the filter and vacuumed the outside of the heater, there is probably a dust and dirt build up inside the heater, that also needs to be cleaned out. A dust build up can clog the burners so that they do not burn cleanly and thereby produce a gas odor, Be sure you turn the heater OFF and let it cool completely, before removing the heater's cabinet. A Shop Vac with a brush attachment on the hose and a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) works well in performing the cleaning process. Be sure to not only clean the burners, also clean the pilot and the pilot assembly.

If after completing the above, you still get a gas odor (if it doesn't smell like rotten eggs, it's not gas), it would be wise to perform a leak check on all the fittings. With that said, it's normal to get a whiff of gas when the burner lights and turns OFF, But, it should dissipate quickly.

Hope this helps you further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Older style Rinnai gas heater pilot light flame very large more yellow then blue..approx stays at 4inches even once burners are lit. Heater has 6 small burners and a brown cover.

not a problem. however, if you want to shrink it down... it's hard to say just what your gas valve is like. There should be 2 spots on it for adjustments, the larger slot (should be covered by a brass plug) adjusts the main burner output, the smaller adjusts pilot output. crank it down and watch the pilot shrink, but in this situation bigger is better. the pilot creates an electrical signal that opens the gas valve, you don't want that signal to be too weak.
It would be wise to clean the pilot supply, to have a cleaner flame. pressurized air does well with out having to remove it.
