Maxxum 7D Not Taking Pictures

Apparently, this just started and I'm having problems trying to take simple shots. Looking through the viewfinder, the camera is being ignorant and have five vertical dashes on the right side blinking. I have no idea what that means and I was hoping for an answer.
I keep pressing the shutter button and all i get is focus and no pictures are being taken.
Thanks in advance.

I also have a Konica Minolta 7D with the same problem. It worked fine yesterday. I went to use it today but the shutter will not release. It will focus but nothing else. I also have the green bars flashing on the left side? Anyone know anything about this problem?

Yeah I figured out that it was the anti-shake. Once i turned it off, the blinking on the right side stopped... however... it's not taking anymore pictures. Depressing... but the Minolta is being stubborn so it's just collecting dust since I last posted.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to repair such an issue?

    Thanks in advance.

The shutter release problem is very common in the 7d. The carbon rods in the stabilizing servo fail. I have had quotes of just over $400 from non OEM. I recommend sending it to Sony. Good luck

Vibrating sounds, flashing shake indicator, shutter won't release...

It's a fault in the camera and has to be repaired at the shop, Sorry, I know it's not the answer you were hoping for, but it's a depressingly common problem on the 5d/7d forums.

Camera won't take pictures.

Go into the settings and select Clean CCD. It should be under the blue menu. The shutter curtain has a tendency to stick on this model. There was a recall on them way back when they first came out. 1a53cc1b-6da0-4b38-942c-78caadf51633.gif 1bcf9dee-9615-448f-a170-16ef0e446320.gif

My minolta maxxum 7d won't take a picture....The shutter will push down but no picture will be taken. I tried it later in the day then it worked. Now today I tried, it worked this morning and then not...

Precision Camera picked up the responsibility for fixing the 7D and 5D Konica-Minolta cameras when Sony bought out K-M. I contacted them when my 7D wasn't functioning, and sent them my camera. Fortunately, on of the problems was "First Frame Black". Precision completely refurbished my camera and returned it to me in better than new condition. Sony picked up the full cost for the total refurbishing; all I paid was the shipping cost to Precision. I might add that my 7D was not in warranty. The URL for Precision Camera is:
http://www.precision-camera.com/ . Give it a shot.

After a while of reloading camera firmware and resetting defaults, I came tothis conclusion. You need to do a mock CCD cleaning on the camera which abuilt-in feature of the 7D, in which the camera locks up the mirror momentarilyso you can clean the CCD. But of course you do not need to clean the ccdat this point. Below are procedures to help get your camera back inoperation.

1.Try turning the camera off, then take out the battery.

2.Then replace the fully charged battery back in and turn the camera on but donot take any pictures.

3.Go to the menu of your camera and activate the CCD cleaning, which willactivate mirror lockup.

4.You will hear a mirror lock up/half exposure cycle sound.

5.One you hear this, take the lens off and make sure you can see the CCD but donot touch the CCD or allow dust to get on it.

6.Now place the lens back over the camera and turn the camera off.

7.You will hear the mirror unlock itself, then the camera will shut down.

8.Now turn the camera back on and start taking pictures.

This worked for me and my camera started taking better pictures; however, thesame problem came up again when I let the camera sit too long with a deadbattery. So I repeated the procedures and my camera is back.

My advice is never leave a completely dead battery in the camera. Alwaysstore fully charged batteries in the camera.

Camera shuts off after one shot

Set the camera to clean ccd mode and carefully remove the lens. If you can't see the ccd but only the shutter then the shutter is sticking. I have this problem when not using the camera regularly. My solution to free the shutter was just to set the camera to long exposure and just keep restarting the camera and taking a photo until the shutter moves. This problem happened from the very first time I had the camera run low on batteries at a few months old but at the time I never checked the shutter and the camera just restarted once and it worked.

BLANK (BLACK) PICTURES

Yes this is a common problem. Set the camera to take a long exposure shot (5 seconds) and with the lens off take a photo. Can you see the ccd or just the shutter (black)? If its just the shutter the shutter is jammed. It's basically a question of persisting with rebooting the camera and taking shots until the shutter frees itself.

CAMERA PROBLEMS

I had the same problem. Took picture; camera turned itself off after one shot; review of picture showed no image (black). Thought it was battery or card but battery fully charged. Took card out; turned camera on; activated shutter; camera turned itself off. Reinserted (same) card; turned camera on; took picture; problem solved. No idea why. Gary
