  • cdprty Jul 09, 2010

This happens with different games that I download from different sites. I have an older system so the graphic card is ATI HD 3850. Since I installed this a lot of the game graphics are better but still not right. My brother in law installed more memory and says for my system all the drivers are up to date. I have downloaded all XP, java and abode up dates. Do I need some other download?

    Thanks for your help.

Check and see if the game is trying to operate at a resolution or refresh rate that your graphics card does not support. Make sure you have the most current version of Direct X installed. you can check your version as well as gain alot of other useful information by clicking "start" then "run" enter "dxdiag" into the run box. If you do not have the "run" command in your start menu you need to Right click the start button and select "properties" then click the start menu tab and select to customize scroll down and make sure that you have checked to display the "run" command.

The faulty images on exported videos to external monitors are not caused by anything but the quality of the video ..and the size of (I mean the shooting size aspect ration ...if the images were taken on 320 x 240 ..and played on a larger resolution ..the pixels will be visible and the image unclear ) and in case the video is impeccable ..th eonly thing that may cause it ..is the quality of the cables..and the connection type ..So a hdmi connection will always be the best ..but the next best thing is an s video ..or composite

White vertical lines on screen. Unable to see pictures

check your graphics card connection to the motherboard when turned off. Try to install new drivers for the correct card. All else failts try a different monitor with same graphics card. If that doesn't work you know it's your graphics card. If it works fine, somethings up with the monitor itself.

No graphics. but have sound

Did you uninstall the old drivers/software for your old card before installing the new ones? Sometimes this will cause a conflict especially if you are going to a completely different chipset card, ie. nvidia to ati or vice versa. If this does not clear up the problem then test your new card in a different computer to see if the card is bad. Hope this helps.

In-game graphics don't work

Have you updated your video driver?
If that has been done, you can right click on the shortcut icon, go to compatibility and choose to run it under Win SP2 or 3.
That could help with things, if not post a comment and I'll get back to you for further help.

Graphics card problem

Download and install the latest driver software for your video card to make sure that's up to date. Then make sure you've got the right monitor type specified and you should have the right choice of resolutions and refresh rates. If the particular monitor you have is not offered as a choice by your operating system, you can usually get specifications from the manufacturer's website. Then pick a generic monitor type that offers the highest refresh rate the monitor can handle.
