Question about Goodman Heating & Cooling
My Goodmman CKH36-1B runs great until about now in the summer ( Phoenix ) and then it suddenly makes loud noises as though the blades are grinding
against something. Is there some maintenance I should be doing? I can't seem to convince my absentee landlord that something needs to be done. We also have a CKH30-1B that never makes a sound. I'm
willing to take the cover off and lube it or whatever I can do without having to have an expensive repair that my landlord won't pay for.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Compressor noise
Anything bought from a retailer you have 90 days (unless otherwise posted) to exchange according to the Uniform Commercial Code of the United States. There are other state laws that vary from state to state. The air conditioner may fall under electronics, which usually have a 30 day return. After that period you have to warranty thru the mfg. If you have a receipt exchange it, if not your out of luck. Haier is garbage BTW. At least by the chinese made unit rebranded to look American. Hack

SOURCE: AC make loud noise on power off.
Is this a wndow unit or central air system? if this is a window unit , your problem is it only needs cleanning (dirt dbber nest-- trash around the back blades-- or the unt is twisted and rubbing the fan shroud. Last but not least, the slinger ring around the back blades (a ring around the end of the blades thats picks up water in the bottom of the unit and sling it on the coils to help cool the hot gases....Thank-you Thank you Thank you very much!

the motor could just be locked in place from sitting...take a stick or something and try to see if it spins be sure of rotation! you can also give it a little nudge while it is on and it will take off! if this happens then you have a bad start compacitor but no there are no fuses that only protect the motor!

This type of cooler has "pillow bearings" where the squirrel cage fan rests in the frame. They must be lubricated with oil at least yearly. If they go dry the bearings can wear out and cause the noise. Oil them first to see if the noise is less and maybe you can get by without replacing them. If the noise is still there you may need a bearing replacement. Always turn off the power to the unit before you work on it.
