Question about SanDisk Sansa E280 MP3 Player

1 Answer

My music will not GO AWAY!!!!

Okay, here's the deal. I found a solution for deleting my music, but another problem came with the sollution. I was told that I should go to {My Computer--> Tools--> Folder Options--> View--> Hidden Files & Folders --> Show Hidden Files & Folders}, and I would be able to delete my music from {My Computer--> SanDisk Sansa E280--> Music}. Here's where the problem is. According to the computer, the music is being changed and deleted, but everything stays the same according to my MP3 player. I don't know how to format it.
- Are there other ways to get some of the music off rather than formatting?
- What should I do?

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
-----
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

When i transfer music from my library it deletes all existing tracks from device

Are the existing tracks still on your computer? Most mp3 devices won't keep existing music on the device unless told to do so. Basically, don't delete any playlists or tracks from the program that you are using to transfer the music.

Files on player are not listed in wmp or in windows explorer

change the settings of the player to MSC and connect the device to your computer. It will be detected as a removal disc drive. Open it and it should contain the folders in your player. IF you can only see a few folders. Click on Tools-Folder Option - Show hidden files and folders. Then you should see the folders that you have. Right click on the song and choose delete.
