Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My Amana dryer LEA30AW does not run. This is what happens, I load the dryer and turn the knob to the desired cycle and it will run and then shut off a couple of minutes later. There does appear to be heat when I open the door after it shuts off. Once this happens I try to position the knob to the start position again and it makes a buzzing noise and will not run, after time goes by I will go back and try it again and it runs for a short time again. What is my problem???? When it does run there is a loud squeeking noise??? Sometimes this noise goes away and then starts???

Our Amana dryer will run well for a while, then shut off. It has a moisture sensor. Could this sensor be bad, or could the thermostat be bad? Everything else works well with this dryer. Thanks.

How do you dry clothes in this machine please

A fairly common problem! The official instructions are

Before using your dryer, wipe the dryer drum with a damp cloth to
remove dust from storing and shipping.
1. Load clothes loosely into the dryer and close the door. Do not
pack the dryer. Allow space for clothes to tumble freely.
2. Turn the Cycle Control knob to the recommended cycle for the type of load being dried. Use the Energy Preferred Automatic Setting (,) to dry most heavyweight and medium weight loads. See "Drying, Cycle, and Temperature Tips."
3. Select a temperature setting on models with a Temp/Fabric selector. The cycle descriptions include temperature setting suggestions.
4. Push the START button.

Stopping and Restarting
You can stop your dryer any time during a cycle.
To stop your dryer
Open the dryer door or turn the Cycle Control knob to OFE
NOTE: The Cycle Control knob should point to an Off area when
the dryer is not in use.
To restart your dryer
1. Close the door.
2. Select a new cycle and temperature (if desired).
3. Press START

On the amana LEA30aw which wires go where on the heating element?

There is usually a schematic pasted to the inside service area unless it fell out. Read it & start tracing wires. The power to the element should pass through a fuse, a thermistor(cycles power on and off relative to heat and a safety switch that kills power if it gets too hot. Don't take short cuts.

My dryer's cotton/time dry/wrinkle free option know turns freely. Dryer will not start.

Take the other knob from the other switch nd put it in that place. It should turn then . You will be able to turn it on by a pair of pliers until you get a replacement knk.

Amana electric dryer model LEA30Aw will not heat

The heating element measures 10 Ohms at 68 degrees farenheit. Usually if the element is bad, it will measure infinity.
