This indicates that one or more of the laterals are cracked or broken. You will need to open the tank, remove all the sand, inspect the laterals(tubes that come off the center 'stand pipe'). replace any that have cracks or are broken. If you can't tell, replace them all. Fill tank back up with the right amount of sand and close it all back up.

I just had a new Hayward s244s sand filter put in and now am having problems draining water from my pool. For some reason I can't get it to drain past the skimmer level. Suggestions?

What are you using to drain the pool? A sand pool filter is not the best option for draining. You need a submersible pump for that. Why are you draining the pool? The filter should be used to filter water, not drain. It is possible, but not efficient.

Model # s244s has dirty sand and vacuum pressure is not good. Sand is dirty . Pressure valve has pressure of 50 psi

This is a serious issue. These vessels are only pressure rated to 50 PSI. Anything more can be an explosion hazard.SHUT DOWN THIS SYSTEM!

You need to remove all the sand and replace it. While your inside, you must clean the LATERALs. (small tubes on bottom of the filter)

This will reduce the pressure.

It is a good idea to replace the laterals in the bottom of this filter if it is in your budget to do so. The pvc laterals become brittle and often break when tampered with .

Note: only use #20 silica pool filter sand as a replacement.

I have an Hayward Pro Series S244T filter and I have had problems with sand blowing back into pool - the filter is only 2 years old

When sand returns to the pool, there is a hole in either the media or the sieve that is supposed to keep the sand in the filter.
All of the sand must come out of the filter, the sieve at the bottom (outlet of the filter) must be removed and any broken segments must be replaced.
The sand is then returned.

Replaced sand now filter isnt working

if u used play sand, or any other type of sand thats NOT pool filter sand, that could be the problem. also if there is too much sand or too little sand that could also cause this.

There's sand in my pool!

I have had this issue with several clients and before worrying, you might have had sand being drawn back into pool lines during winterization. this happens when you blow out lines, plug holes, but keeping it pressurized. if it keeps happening check draw fins on bottom of filter.
