Question about John Deere Garden

1 Answer

I have a John Deere LX173 that won't start. It's getting fuel but has no spark. I replaced the plug and still nothing. It has been hit or miss starting lately with an occasional back fire before starting. It turns over fine but won't start. I checked the safety switch under the seat and it's OK. What do I do now ?

My LX173 has a 15hp Kolher engine that has no spark. I installed a new spark plug and wrapped a copper wire around the threads and grounded the other end, turned the motor over and still no spark.

On my John Deere lx173, when I try to start it, it blows a fuse. All wires look good. What could be wrong?

it could be a bad component in the start up system, like the fuel pump or a fuel solinoid that should activate before unit will start.
It would be helpful to know what fuse it is blowing, i.e if its the fuel pump fuse look in that system. if its the seat interlock fuse, look in that system.

John deere 420 trouble starting getting gas and

The engine needs air, so be sure the air filter is clean. If it is not, replace it.

The engine needs spark. Replace the spark plug and be sure that the battery has a complete charge.

The engine needs good fuel so be sure the gas is newly purchased, not gas that has been sitting around for months.
