What's wrong if your computer boots up but when it's time to login in the screen goes black?

Depending on what make and model of computer you are using i would advise pressing and holding the power button until everything shuts down and then power on and keep on pressing the F5 key then a black screen will appear and select Safe Mode and see if you can log in on safe mode failing that i would try doing a start up repair.

  1. With the Samsung Galaxy TAB turned off, press and hold the VOLUME Down button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
Note: If you see "Downloading" on the screen with an Android shoveling you pressed the wrong Volume key. Remove and reinsert the battery and try again.

Blue Screen Comes during windows installation 0x0000007b, 0xf9d04524, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Computer unplugged from power, Anti-Static Precautions FOLLOWED, remove the CMOS battery.

Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of 10 seconds. Count, 1001,..1002,..1003,..etc. Let go of the Power On button.

Do this same procedure two more times. Now reinstall the CMOS battery. (Positive -> + sign on battery always goes UP)

What you are doing is clearing CMOS Error Codes. Now try again.

Also make sure in BIOS Setup utility, and in Boot Options, that you set the first boot device to CDROM.

Plus, is the HDD cable plugged in correctly? Some of the cables do not have a Locating lug on the connector, for an IDE (PATA) data cable.

The faint red stripe on the side marks Pin 1. Pin 1 ALWAYS goes toward the power cable connection, on the harddrive.

Pin 1 is usually marked on the motherboard connector. (You also want IDE 1, or Primary, for the motherboard connector)

SATA data cable can be plugged into ANY SATA data connector, on the motherboard. BIOS will find the SATA device.

Power on with fan running fast for 3 seconds, then slowed down but no display and no operation

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.

Laptop problem

If the fan runs and you see lights that's a good thing. It means the laptop is getting power and trying to boot. Now do you hear the hard drive turning? When you press the Power Button do you hear the CD drive click once and notice that the light on the cd drive door turns on for a second or two? These are all good signs of the laptop trying to boot. When you press the power button did you hear any beeps or notice that the lights blink continuously such as 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. The lights and blinks tells the technician what is wrong. When you press the power button do you see anything on the LCD Screen as it goes thru the boot process?

Try removing the battery and the power cord from the laptop. Then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, plug only the power cord in and press the power button to reboot. If it boots that means you had a static buildup which is normal in computers. By hold the power button you released the static. If it boots you can put the battery back in. If it does not boot and if the lights are blinking or you hear beeps you might have a bad memory chip. Unplug the laptop and turn it over to remove the screws tht house the memory chips. Remove one of the memory chips and set it aside. Now try to boot your laptop. If it does not boot, move the memory chip to the other slot and try rebooting. If it boots place an x on the memory chip that you have set aside. If it does not boot remove that chip and put the memory chip you have set aside in the laptop and repeat the process of moving in into each memory slot and trying to boot. If you get it to boot with one memory chip, place the other chip in the available slot (make sure it has an x mark on it so that you will know which one might be bad), then try rebooting. If it fails, that chip is bad. If it does not boot for either chip then more than likely you have a motherboard issue.

My laptop turns on normal goes to window and then shuts down

The is something wrong with the booting of the computer. Does it pass the initial BIOS boot screen? Try pressing F8 once every second after pressing the power button and see if you can boot the computer in safe mode.

I have a message in the middle of my computer screen that say Luminance/Temperature and I can't remove it and I can't view somethings on my computer screen

What type of Monitor do you have?
LCD - press the menu button- scroll through your settings - disable the demo if it'd turned on - under luminance, make sure that DCR is set to off.

CRT - the same rule apllies, if that fails press the degause button.

If that dont solve it, please relay the make and model of the monitor... and what type of o/s you are using.

Tower problems

You may need to replace the cmos battery, its a cr2032 3v button cell
Make sure all your expansion cards and memory are reseated.
Make sure all cables are reseated.
your power supply could be bad

If that doesn't work try this

Here is my fix for the dell dimension 4400 amber light problem. It works!
replace cmos battery.
then unplug power cord form wall about 5-10 secs.
then plug it back in, wait 5 secs.
If amber light comes on, press and hold power button until it goes out.

(with light out, press and hold power button while amber light comes on and goes off again holding power button 2-3 secs after light goes out.) repeat whats in parenthesis until computer turns on
it should only take about 6, 7 tries.

After the computer boots, you may want to setup cmos or boot into windows.
After you shutdown, unplug power cord for 5-10 secs then plug it back in.
Press and hold the power button, computer should come on.
I found that's the only way to turn on the computer.
If you shutdown and don't unplug power cord the computer may not boot, mine didn't.
Strange I'd say
