How do I take apart Madcatz mc2 pedal set

I started having trouble with my brakes and throttle either not operating or operating sporadically (MC2 pedal set). I tried slightly jiggling the cord near the connection on the steering wheel base and found I could get the pedal set operating again. To keep the pedal set operating while I play (drive), I drape the pedal set cord over the steering wheel set gear shift. Amazingly, that one difference keeps the pedal set operating consistently. By the way, I had ordered another pedal set in the box on E-Bay when I found this draping technique worked. The E-Bay set is still in the box in my closet as a back-up. Don't need it ... yet. This is what I have been doing since the issue occurred about two years ago. Hope this resolves your issues.

Car moves and rolls while in drive. But the gas doesnt work. The pedal is loose and when u mash down there is no result

The throttle is operated by a cable from the pedal to the engine throttle. That cable is either broken or has come loose from the pedal or the engine throttle. Check the pedal first. If the pedal does not have any return spring and falls to the floor the cable is most likely the problem. If you are familiar with the engine components and can see the throttle and cable you could have someone try to operate the pedal without the engine running. If it has come loose from the throttle you should see it move. If not you and appears to be connected to both the throttle and pedal the cable is broken. You will have to have a new cable installed if it has broken. Good luck.

Rear brakes not working proper. I have never liked the brakes on my 2500 chevy pickup. I bought the truck second hand. I have since replaced the front pads twice. The front pads were gone in 18,000...

e-brake pedal should go farther- is either out of adjustment or cable frozen- secondly sounds like only front brakes receiving enough pressure to "activate" properly- bleed all four brakes starting rear pass, then rear drive ,then front pass, then front drive- use plenty of fluid- bleed till fluid is clean without bubbles- will that long at first- this will insure not bubbles and no moisture- if a pro valve dies, you would have more problems- pedal would be really soft, would have both a brake light and abs warning lights

2003 Dodge Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi, Red lighting bolt on lower right of dash comes on. When this happens the motor will not pick up speed from standing start till you press the gas pedal on down, then it revs...

Hi, if you don't have a manual, you can get a free download here: http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/

The lightning bolt indicates a fault in the electronic throttle control. It is likely the rheostat/potentiometer in the accelerator position sensor is dirty or worn out. I have pasted info on the part below from autozone.com. If you replace the sensor, be sure to follow the calibration procedure at the end of the installation instructions. Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for using FixYa.

Operation
The Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) assembly is located under the vehicle battery tray. A cable connects the assembly to the accelerator pedal. A plastic cover with a movable door is used to cover the assembly.

NOTE The APPS is used only with the 5.7L V-8 engine.

The Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) is a linear potentiometer. It provides the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with a DC voltage signal proportional to the angle, or position of the accelerator pedal. The APPS signal is translated (along with other sensors) to place the throttle plate (within the throttle body) to a pre-determined position.
A mechanical cable is used between the accelerator pedal and the APPS assembly. Although a cable is used between the pedal and APPS, a mechanical cable is not used at the throttle body. Throttle plate position is electrically determined.

Removal & Installation
The APPS is serviced (replaced) as one assembly including the sensor, plastic housing and cable. The APPS assembly is located under the vehicle battery tray. Access to APPS is gained from over top of left / front tire.

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.
  2. Disconnect APPS cable at accelerator pedal.
  3. Remove wheel house liner at left / front wheel.
  4. Gain access to APPS electrical connector by opening swing-down door.
  5. Disconnect electrical connector.
  6. Remove 3 mounting bolts.
  7. Remove APPS assembly from battery tray.
  8. If cable is to be separated at APPS, unsnap cable clip from ball socket. Release cable from plastic housing by pressing on small cable release tab.

To Install:
  1. Install Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) cable to accelerator pedal. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Removal / Installation.
  2. Connect electrical connector to APPS.
  3. If necessary, connect cable to APPS lever ball socket (snaps on).
  4. Snap APPS cable cover closed.
  5. Position APPS assembly to bottom of battery tray and install 3 bolts.
  6. Install wheelhouse liner.
  7. The 5.7L V-8 engine is equipped with a fully electronic accelerator pedal position sensor. If equipped with a 5.7L, also perform the following 3 steps:
    1. Connect negative battery cable to battery.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON, but do not crank engine.
    3. Leave ignition switch ON for a minimum of 10 seconds. This will allow PCM to learn electrical parameters.
NOTE The DRB III Scan Tool may also be used to learn electrical parameters. Go to the Miscellaneous menu, and then select ETC Learn.

  8. If the previous step is not performed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set.
  9. If necessary, use a proper scan tool to erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from PCM.

I have a Logic3 TopDrive GT steering wheel, and I can't get the pedals to have any other effect than the gearingflaps behind the wheel. Do you have any recomends?

Hold PROG down for 4 seconds, hit the Left arrow on the hat switch in the middle and then fully press the throttle (left pedal) down and release. This should set the pedals to its own axis and then flappy paddles should now be only working for gear shifting!

Pedals broken on xbox 360 MS wireless wheel

I've see a lot of posts where people have had issues with the Microsoft racing pedals not working properly. Usually the throttle just races away when it is suppose to be at idle. I had this problem and after taking apart the pedal set more than once to try and fix it - it's made so cheaply - I gave up.
So, if you want a good fix, here is what I did. I got a set of Madcats 2 pedals, which are X-box compatible (craigslist) - other pedal sets may work but then you would have to figure out the wiring on your own which took me considerable time NOTE: These do not have to be the Madcats pedal set from the force feedback type, just the standard pedal set will work.
I went to home depot and bought a wall phone jack. I then took the bottom off the Madcats pedals (the Phillips screws are under the square rubber pieces which you can peel off with a small blade - common screwdriver) and you will see there are 4 wires going to the cable that normally plugs into the MC2 wheel. Pop the face plate off from the phone jack but don't throw it away and cut the cable on the inside of the MC pedal set about 2" from the grommet. You can pull the grommet out of the slot and discard the cable. Carefully strip the insulation on the 4 wires (Brown, Yellow, Blue and White). I've done the hard part, which took me about 5 hours so here are the correct wire color match-ups. The phone jack has Green, Black, Red and Yellow wire hook-ups. Connect the MC-Yellow to PJ-Green; MC-Blue to PJ-Black; MC-Brown to PJ-Red;MC-White to PJ-Yellow. Now you can plug in the phone wire connection from the wheel into the phone jack and try out the MC Pedals. Much better? What I did next was cut a hole in the back of the MC pedal case (make sure it is not in-line with where the bottom plate weight goes. I used a hole saw just smaller than the phone jack and then used a razor knife to form a good fit fro the phone jack. Remember the face plate? Get yourself a good pair of sturdy Scissors and cut around the circle on the face plate. Now put the phone jack in the hole you made from the inside of the pedal housing and snap that little disk you just cut out from the face plate onto the phone jack from the outside of the pedal base. Now you may want to glue the phone jack in place on the inside of the pedal base just so it stays put. I used epoxy putty because it kneads like play-do and is easy to push on place. Also it sets up in just a few minutes. Now just put the bottom plate back on the MC pedals and put the screws back in. You will find that the MC pedals do not have the same problems that the Microsoft pedals did like the sticking throttle problem and they are much more responsive.
