This "E" symbol stands for "Edge" as "G" stands for "Gprs", it means your phone is connected to the internet which means you are accessing internet through your phone.

If your handset is a dual sim support mobile, then you'll see two network icons as the network tower 1 and network tower 2.
The easiest way to find out that your phone supports dual sim is to open the back cover and check the slots, there, you'll see two sim card slots, Sim1 and Sim2, you can put/insert any sim card on any slot, there's no specific rules which sim card should be inserted on which slot. You can refer to the picture below;

Sorry, the symbol isn't a capital E, it's kinda like a small e reversed? Is there another way to tell about the sim cards without taking it apart?

If I am right, you've misunderstood what I did mention here "E", I didn't mean it's capital or small, but it's only as an indicative so that you could understand better, I am sorry if it made you more confused. The symbol might look different in different mobile and models, but it means the same.

I don't understand why you want to know about the dual sim, and you know your phone model isn't has (I am sure of this). There are many other options to check the dual sim feature, suppose when you open your message, you'll see two option "sim1" or "sim2" and same case with the call log. More than that, there's another, when you enter the settings, there you'll see another option where you can choose which sim card you want to keep active (but this isn't recommended and most people need two sim cards working at the same time.)

    Good luck.

My phone is displaying the letters EV in the top left hand corner

Possible solution is that you are now showing on your providers EVDO network, meaning a good connection (faster). Check your wireless provider's website, but on Verizon that's what it means.

Motorola RAZR mieterious message icon

Check and see if someone has sent you a picture message that you haven't downloaded yet. If you have one, it will tell you that you haven't opened it, and all you need to do is download it if you want that to stop. Or you could just delete the message.
It's not a big problem that will mess up your phone, it's just telling you something. (:

Razr phone pictures

It's just not made easy for you by Motorola, but you can
accomplish it. You will use the P2K application
Here's how:

1. Plug-in your Motorola Phone’s Mini-USB cable to a USB 2.0 connector on your computer.

2. Start up the P2K Commander software by clicking on “P2kCommander.exe” after you have completed the setup instructions that are here.

3. In the drop down on the pane to the left, select the ‘P2k Mobile Phone’ Icon with a star icon next to it. In some cases, you may need to click on ‘refresh’ for the software to scan your Motorola RAZR V3.
(you should have an app that look like below)

4. By default, the software catalogs all of the files on your Motorola RAZR under a directory by the name of ‘a’. Double click on that directory.

5. The next set of files is the base or root of your phone’s file system. Double-click on the folder ‘mobile’.

6. The list of folders here includes several that you may have interest in, including ‘audio’, ‘picture’, and ‘video’. For the purpose of this tutorial, double-click on the ‘picture’ folder.

7. The pane on the left will now show the list of available pictures to be transferred from your Motorola mobile phone. Now choose your destination folder on the right, by double-clicking to your desired location.

8. Highlight the pictures in the left pane that you would like to transfer or copy to your computer. Then click the ‘Copy’ icon on the lower right hand side of the screen to transfer your pictures.

Finally: Got to the Folder(s) on your computer and look at the pics that should now be yours for viewing!
