Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

My right, front knob won't stay in the down position when turned on. It pops back up causing the burner to go off. This is for Jenn Air JEC9530ADB. Do you know what could be the cause? Thank you.

The problem is the burner switch itself. The spring is working, but the LOCK of the switch that should hold the knob while it's turned ON is no longer working. It could no longer hold the knob.

The switch is also called the "custom control". If you think you can fix it by yourself, here's the custom control kit Part number: AP4009645.

But if not, it's also an option to call pro and have him fix it for you.

Thank you and good luck!

Hi,
Here is a test you can use to check the ignitors, Ignitor test. I also would like to you turn the thermostat knob slowly from the off position, When do you hear the click in the knob? You should hear it before the warm or lowest numbered setting on the knob. If you don't, replace the thermostat as it has failed. Need full model number to get you part.
Good Luck
Stay dry out there!!

Two burners on jenn air counter top make sparking sound but burners won't ignite

turn electricity off to ignitors. remove grates and clean up the burners good, they might have a clogged up hole. gas may not be coming out of burner holes. good-day !! if all else fails, just use a wooden match to light that burner.

I purchased a house w/ a Jenn-air elect. drop-in range. The Model # is 87946 or 87847. I believe the range was originally purchased in 1975. I am in need of an instruction manual .

Neither of these are a typical Jenn-Air model number. http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US suggests that the model number is on the back wall under the burner on the right side of a drop-in cooktop. For a range the model number is often on the frame inside the oven door, below the vent or on the back of the top of the range.

87946 or 87847 are the part numbers for the cartridges (the elements or the surrounding housing).

Look at the model number locations at the "Help me find my model number" link and try to locate a model number on your range. Then enter that model into the search box. The manual is probably available with the correct part number. Most Jenn-air electric cooktops start with JEC in their model number.

I hope this helps you locate the manual.

(I did try JEC87847 just in case you left off the leading alphabetical characters.)

My folks recently purchased a house with a Jenn-Air S160 electric grill-range/oven. The left hand side electric burner cartridge's back burner superheats on the low setting. I've switched the burner...

Sounds like the problem is in the control assy. especially if you switched the burnners and the problem remained. Go to the jenn-air website and see if they have a parts breakdown for your unit.
Record the model number of the unit before you search, you will need that info.
