Lens jerks when VR is active (by 2 users)

posted by Atl Momx3 on Apr 18, 2008

I have a four-month-old Nikon D40x. The AF 5 S (55-100 mm) lens started having an odd problem. After a photo is taken the lens jerks or something, causing the scene in the view finder to adjust. The photo seems to come out okay but it's obviously not normal and causes a delay in taking pictures. It seems to happen only when the vibration reduction is turned on. The camera wasn't dropped or anything. We just turned it on one day and had the problem.

This Problem has been added to the Share Your Expertise Page under "My Work Queue".

bump? Having this same issue!

My 18-55mm lens works fine, no ****/stutter... but when I use the 55-200 VR lens (only in VR mode) I experience the same 'jerking.' Lens is less than a week old - returned and exchanged, but having same issue with new one. I'm stumped.

Help!
