it is mtb2191ar. well at first it was the top shelf of the freezer that wasn't freezing- so i cleaned the condenser yesterday and now everything is not working so well. the bottom part of the freezer freezer like a rock and the top part melts, the fridge was getting warm too.

I will try this as soon as it is naptime because I find myself yelling at my kids while working on the freezer. Will let you know what it does. Thank you. Why would the fan not work though? Are they related?

Yes the fan motor can be the problem but I would disconnect the wiring from fan and use a voltage meter to see if the problem is coming from mother board or like some models the fan also turns off when freezer door is open, meaning bad door switch. But must not assume at this point. Give me a few moments and I will send you detailed information, Sea Breeze Can you confirm that your model number is the MTB1911AR? Sounds alo like a series of events are taking place so it is a tossup of the fan or a defrost problem but if the fan stops it will cause the evaporator to freeze over and the compressor will struggle to pump the -20 degree freon. So unplug until we can diagnose the problem directly. Sea Breeze

Sounds like a defrost timer part number=> 63001580 enter those number into partl search feature here=> Sea Breeze Appliance Parts Location Here=> MTB2191ARW Control Panel and part number 2 in large photo. Find a small plug covering a hole size of pencil. Pry plug away and place flathead screwdriver inside and turn timer slowly clockwise until the compressor stops. Leave up to thirty minutes like this. This is forced defrost and if timer does not defrost or start the refrigerator after turn again a little. ethier way this must cause defrost. You with the silence of compressor off you can hear crackling and sizzling if the defrost heter is good. I am out of town for a few hours installing a Heat Pump but you may reach me any time through the night as I have e-mail and cell service listed here=> Appliance 911 Forum If you need me call or e-mail me from the info listed on the top of forum in black the cell number is thsecond on. Freezer is working, but fridge is warm. Fan in back of fridge will not shut off.

If your fridge is not designed with an automatic de-icing function, then there may be an ice dam blocking the cold air from moving from the freezer to the fridge. I had a fridge once that would get blocked with ice even if the rest of the freezer was ice-free.

Unplug your unit (often shutting off the breaker is easier than digging behind the fridge for the plug).

Pull everything out of the freezer and put it in a box. Cover the box completely with blankets to insulate it so your food doesn't thaw and spoil. Prop open the freezer door and let any ice accumulation melt.

Once everything has thawed out, wipe up the water and plug the unit back in. You should be able to tell after 10 minutes or so whether the fridge is getting cooler or not.

FFA74 Hotpoint freezer fan not working

Without a model number I can't give you the part number but I can tell you if the machine is running but the fan isn't turning, change the fan, To do this just unplug the machine, empty the freezer, and removbe the back panel (wall). Once thats done the fan will be accessable and you can swap the old one out with a new one.

The freezer is not cooling and all items in the freezer have dethawed, The Fridge part is cool but not as cool. This started last night and 24 hours later everything defrosted.

hopefully you still got it plugged up to check a few things.... if so here we go...
1st is there any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer wall inside unit... if so then we know the compressor is still working and you got a defrost problem going on most likely one of these three parts /the heater has failed, the defrost thermostat has failed. or the defrost timer has failed... you can check the heater by gaining access to the back wall of freezer remove shelfs and the remove back panel of freezer there will be a heater down at bottom with a wire on each side make sure the unit is unplugged at this point and that you take a hair dryer and thaw ice test heater on each side with a meter checking for contuinity through heater to make sure no broke... the defrost thermostat is mounted to the coil in same area prior to thawing gain access to wires if there is ice around thermostat which is round and clips to coil has 2 wires again unit unplugged adn prior to thawing check for contuinity as if there is ice around it it should have closed... if both them are good you most likely have a bad defrost control/timer. if there is no ice on back panel is the fan in freezer section working when the door switch is closed listen ,is the fan in the back of unit working ,is the compressor running have you heard any clicking coming from back of unit if so that would indicate a bad compressor relay on will require to be replaces.... not much description in your post but hopefully one of these tips help you get a diagnoses. good luck

The fridge part becomes warm every 6 months. I have to empty the hole fridge, unplugged it and let it thaw with doors open for 72 hours...

Check that defrost heater is working. Pull back wall of freezer out, unplug refrig, unplug defrost heater and check with ohm meter that heater is good. If heater is good then check thermistors are good, if reading correctly, then change mother board.

My feezer builds up ice at the back on the bottom

That is one of the symptoms of a failed blower fan. Typically on Frigidaire it's behind the metal shield with the thermostat knob at the back of the freezer. Go to an online parts place and look at the diagrams. To see it the fan is failed. Unplug from the wall, remove the shield, if you have an icemaker remove the two screws holding it on the wall and it's connector, then plug in the wall and either check for voltage or watch to see the fan spin.

Back of freezer ices up and the freezer

You most likely have a burnt out defrost heater. The most common part number is WR51X10053, but if you comment back with your exact model number I can confirm that for you. To fix it, you will need to remove the shelves in the freezer so you can take the back wall out. Defrost all the coils by unplugging as you have, or use a hair blower. The defrost heater is along the very bottom of the coils and has a wire connected to each side of it.

Freezer Working Intermittently; Fridge not as cold as should be

the model number you sent didn't come up,i sounds like you could have an inefficient compressor or a freon leak.when you checked the compressor was the condenser fan motor running?this is what keeps the compressor cool also clean the condenser coil too.another thing is that if you have a timer on your machine it could be sticking,if you send the model number i can tell you where it is,also if you remove the back inside wall of the freezer, look at the evaporator coil, the frost on the coil should be the same over the whole coil,if it isn't you have a sealed system problem and will need to replace the machine.if things are cold in freezer but not cold enough this is what it sounds like,do this, open the freezer door, you should hear the fan blowing,if not the evap fan motor is bad or it could be in defrost,if you don't hear the fan blowing wait around a half hour and check it again, it could be in defrost mode so the fan won't turn on until it comes out of defrost, also like i said make sure the condenser fan motor is blowing and the condenser coil is clean,if everything checks good and the freezer is cold but not cold enough and the best thing to check is the ice cream get a new machine, you have a sealed system problem.let me know what you find and good luck

Bottom mount freezer not getting cold enough

You have a failed component or components in your automatic defrost system. This is why you have excessive frost inside the freezer along the back wall. The timer could be stuck in run mode. The defrost thermostat (bi-metal) could be defective or the defrost heater could be open or shorted.

Freezer Not Freezing and Water Not Working

More than likely you've got an iced up evaporater. If you look in the lower section of the freezer on the back wall, is the wall frosty or icy looking? The only way to defrost this is by taking the back wall out of the freezer and using a hair dryer on it (being careful not to melt the plastic liner) or to just empty the whole thing and let it sit with the doors open for a few days. Be prepared for water to leak out from under it however as the ice melts and overflows the drain tray in the bottom of the fridge. Good Luck!
