Question about Kitchen Ranges

LG WM3431HW: I need to remove the interior main bearing from the plastic tub. It seems very fixed in there, and I wonder if it uses Lock-Tite or if it's just corrosion keeping it in. How can I get it out to put a new one in?

Hi,

To remove the interior main bearing from the plastic tube.

look at it very well, there are screws which hold it firmly. get a screw driver to loose this screw and pull it out easily.

Thanks for contacting Fixya.

No, there are no screws. Not visible, nor on the exploded diagram of the machine. The bearing fits tightly inside the plastic drum, and there seems to be some kind of substance holding it in.

How do you fix the rear tub spindle on an lg wm2016cw?

If its the main drum bearings gone then this will entail a complete strip to access them. The parts are available online, just have your serial no, model etc ready and trawl through various web appliance sites to find the best price. You will need a fair amount of mechanical / DIY knowledge to carry out this task. There are lots of parts and electrical connections.

Help! changing drum bearing lg wm2277hw

The best way I can suggest through my own personal experience is to turn the tub upside down withthe spider shaft facing down. Hold the tub up in the air about a foot and drop the whole tub on to the ground letting the shaft hit the pavement. It may take a few times to do it but it has always worked forme.
Hope this helps.

How do I fix the front wheel berrings in a 95 buick lesaber

the bearing is a sealed bearing located inside of the steering knuckle. you need to take off the wheel, use a puller to remove the bearing & then you need to press the new bearing into the housing. depending on your ability and tools this might be a job for a pro

Noisey during spin

yes you are right noise during spin cycle is due to faulty bearing. If the tub seal lets go water will weep into the tub bearing. This will rust the basket shaft and normally wreck the tub bearing. Once the bearings starts to get worn enough it usually gets very noisy. The tub bearing is pressed onto the outer back half of the tub shell assembly. Normally need to replace the inner basket/shaft assembly  and the outer shell with the tub bearing.
Sometimes the inner basket support will crack, this can give an clicking or banging noise as well.

Pictures of this job...
A sure indication was the brown junk/gookus leaking out if the rear bearing area and the belt has spewed it around in the drum that the rear bearing and seal was bad...

I had to remove the back panel. Undo the pump hose & water level hose, remove the 2 shocks, remove the motor, undo the front boot from the outer panel and remove the 2 springs to lift the whole assembly out from the back to work on it.

It leaks Your washer can develop several types of leaks. You can track down a leak based on when it occurs:

During fill only
During drain and spin only
All the time
During fill only If the washer leaks only during the fill cycle, check these:

  • Air-gap device -The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it.

  • The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.

  • Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.

During drain and spin only A washer that leaks only during the spin cycle often has a leak in the main drain hose. Inspect the entire hose and correct any problem you find. Alternatively, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. This may be most visible during large loads and high water levels. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

All the time If the washer leaks all the time, check these:

  • Hot and cold water fill hoses - Check the hot and cold water hoses from the household plumbing. If either hose is leaking, tighten it or replace it, as appropriate.

  • Main tub seal - The main tub seal is located between the transmission and the outer tub. It's the primary water seal in the outer tub for the transmission-shaft entry point. If this seal leaks, you can see the leak by opening up the machine's main access panel while the machine is full of water with a small amount of detergent in it. The leak appears at the underside of the outer tub, at or near the center. This seal is difficult to replace. You probably should call a qualified appliance repair technician.

  • Pump - If the pump leaks, you can probably spot the leak when the tub is full of water. The pump has two or more black rubber or plastic hoses attached to it and usually has a drive belt that spins the pump. If the pump is leaking, you need to replace it.

  • Outer tub - Over time, the steel or plastic outer tubs can rust, split, or be punctured. If this happens, you may have to replace the entire outer tub--but that may not be an economical repair to make. Consult a qualified appliance repair technician for further details.

LG wm -1832c front loader making noise

when you take the panels off you will see that the barrel is suspended by springs on top and fake struts on the bottom. be careful when removing the panels. if the barrel is leaning forward it's the front struts, if it's tilting upward it's the rear. and be careful how much you load in a front loader

Problem with my Whirlpool 9250 front load washer

The problem you are having can be caused by one of 3 things. The pulley on the back of the tub can be slipping in the hole that it fits into. The main tub bearing that the tub rides inside of is defective, or the tub support on the main spin basket is broken.
Reach inside of the washer and give it a turn. If the basked seems to fall when it turns one of these 3 items is the problem.
There is a rear bearing that you can change and you can also change the rear pulley. These two are the only 2 that you would consider repairing. The inner rear bearing or the main tub support are not cost effective to repair.
Unplug the washer, then take the back off and you will see the pulley with the belt going around it. make sure it is stable. You can remove it by taking off the large nut that is holding it in place. Then the pulley will pull off. Behind it you will see the rear bearing. On some models this bearing is not replaceable from the rear. Check to see if it is possibly damaged. If the bearing looks good, you will probably need the main tub. I do not recommend repairing if it needs the tub. The job would cost in the $600.00 price range. Good luck and send me more information if you have it. Thanks for requesting me.

Whirlpool Sport Duet: Purchased back in August 2006 the Spin Dry Cycle used to be very quiet - In the last month the cycle "sound effects" resemble the warm up of a commercial jet...

To test for bearing failure, open the door, pull back the door seal then grab the plastic outer tub with one hand and the inner basket with the other hand. If you can lift on the basket and wiggle up and down, the tub bearing is bad.

The tub bearing is contained in the rear half of the outer tub. To replace the rear half of the outer tub requires total disassembly of the machine. The top, console, door seal, front panel, rear panel drain hose, pressure hose etc. all have to be removed. Then..the entire outer tub has to be removed and split apart. The basket will need to be removed and the rear half of the tub replaced,,,It is a very time consuming job, if you are mechanically inclined, you can do it, if not, consider a professional. Cost to repair by a professional will run around $450.00. Outer tub cost is around $300.00.

If you need further assistance, let me know

LG WASHER/DRYER

Try checking the back, there is a plastic tub that is connected to the drying system and it can get clogged with lint etc. It will also cause the unit to give you longer drying times. It is a poor design. You can also pop off the lid to get a better look but make sure you unplug the unit.

Have a tub main bearing needing replaced on Amana LWA40AW2

Generally, if you need sealant, you can use any kind of automotive sealant. The best ones are the rubber-based gasket sealants. Be sure the surfaces are clean before applying and use only enough to make a thin bead. About the bearing: If you have no access to a press, you can often use a piece of pipe (either plastic or steel) which is just large enough to slip over the shaft and pound the bearing into place with a mallet. The pipe should contact only the inner (shaft contacting) race. Be sure it is square. You should lightly lubricate the area where the bearing will seat and also the inside lip and bore of the seal. .
