Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC
I got my computer four years ago. I would like to reset it to factory setting. I have tapped and held down all of the F keys one at a time, after restarting. I have tried the F key in conjuction with ctrl, tab and delete but nothing will show the restore to factory settings page. I have pressed the start button and then all programs and could not find the file for emachine. I tried all the advice that I could find on the internet with no luck. I know that there is a restore to factory setting page because once when I was having trouble getting my computer to start up , I got a page that had several options on one of the options was restore to factory settings. PLEASE HELP ME!
I guess you can try it again to make it not able to start up such as to rename some important windows file. Always a good option to backup first.
You can chat with emachine tech on the following page.
They might be glad to help. Someone might be always a little bit more courteous than others. You can reward them a most satisfactory feedback anyways.
Someone tried the Alt+F10 to get that restore option, I guess it might work with your emachine too. You might like to try it while starting up the system too.
Something to try if you didn't.
(1) Go to start menu
(2) Click on all programs
(3) click on Emachine
(4) click on Emachine recovery management
(5) Click on restore on the bar across the top
(6) click on restore to system factory default
Did you try the number key while starting up or the R key or maybe with the Alt key? Hope that help.

If your particular eMachines model didn't come with recovery media or you just misplaced the disc, you don't want to be caught without a means to restore the operating system.
It's all too easy to accidentally download a virus or experience any number of problems that make your computer unstable.
However, there is an option for restoring your computer without the original recovery disc by using the pre-installed recovery software.
Use an external memory device such as a DVD, flash drive or external hard drive to back up the data you need to save from your eMachines computer.
Any data that isn't saved to an external source will be erased when the computer is restored to factory settings.
Remove any discs that are in the optical drive and unplug the computer's peripheral devices, such as an Ethernet cable or scanner.
Do not disconnect the keyboard, mouse or monitor.
Click the Windows "Start" menu and choose "All Programs."
Navigate to "eMachines" and choose "eMachines Recovery Management." Click the "Restore" tab.
Click "Password Settings" if you have not already set a recovery password. Type a new password in the text box and click "OK." Click "Restore System to Factory Default."
Type the recovery password and click "OK." Click "Next" to wipe the eMachines computer's hard drive and begin the recovery process.
Select "Finish" and wait for the eMachines computer to restart.
Use the series of installation prompts that appear on the screen to create a new user account for your operating system, set the system date and time, and set up your internet settings.
hope this helps
