Issues with my Nexxtech cellphone recording device

I have a Nexxtech cellphone recording device, Cat. No. 4308998. I used to use it with an older model Blackberry. I have since been upgraded, and now the port holes on the new Berry, a Tour 9630, no longer accommodate the Nexxtech device.

I know I need an adapter of some sort, but the one I ordered from RIM doesn't work. I still cannot record. I need someone to try to talk me through how I hook it up using the adapter.

Please help.

All I have is what I provided to you in my original question: it's called a Nexxtech Wireless Phone Recording Controller, Catalogue Number 4308998.

  • jacyruss Jul 08, 2010

It has a 3.5 mm hole. I have two adapters, including for the headset that comes with the Nexxtech device, but I can't make it work. Everything seems to be hooked up properly and plugging in the right places so I am puzzled and confused.

  • jacyruss Jul 08, 2010

The problem is I am a journalist and use an Edirol recording device because it has studio sound quality. Any other suggestions? And is there Nexxtech support somewhere online that I can access to ensure I am hooking it up properly? Or a Nexxtech support manual or some sort? I can't find any trace of a company website and I can't imagine they haven't run into this problem before with new Berrys. There must be some kind of solution.

Yes, I have one like that from Radio Shack, same thing pretty much, plus another headset adapter from Blackberry. No luck getting it to record.

I don't know if it recognizes it or not, all I know is that even when everything's hooked up correctly, it simply won't record. It's really driving me up the wall.

Ok.. It has a 2.5mm jack on the device. Does your phone have a 3mm or 3.5mm jack?

Hmmm.. Looks like the circuit specs are different too. You may need to buy a recorder with a 3.5mm jack after all. If it is compatible then it should work rightaway. No strings attached.

Does it even recognize the device? Some recorders have problems with adapters but work when connected directly. I guess that is the problem with your device.

Ok lets run a diagnostic report. With the device connected try the following test
    1. On the Home screen or in a folder, click the Options icon.
    2. Click Mobile Network.
    3. Press the Menu key.
    4. Click Diagnostics Test.
    5. Press the Menu key.
    6. Click Run.

To view the report its same till the 4th step and then you should highlight a report press the menu key and select view report. Let me know whats in the report so that we can see if there are some problems with the device/phone or if it is some compatibility issue.

    Sai.

Nexxtech n2000 The manual says CD-R with "Digital"

I'm pretty sure it actually says something to the effect of "These discs are marked with "Digital Audio" and the logos shown below...', the operative word being AUDIO.

I have nexxtech portable kit with a hard drive in it, it worked on windows xp, but winds 7 doesn't reconize it How do I fix this

Try your NexxTech on some other computer, to verify that it still works.

Try some other USB port on your computer.

Try some other USB device into the same USB port that you are trying to use for your NexxTech, to make sure that your computer's USB ports are working correctly.

Check that Windows 7 has loaded the device-drivers for your USB 2.0 ports on your computer's motherboard.

Low volume and unbalanced deck

Turntables require amplification, they have very low output on their own. If your Sherwood has an Aux input try using that, older receivers often had a built-in pre-amp on the aux jack. You can obtain a stand alone pre-amp for less than $50, I use one from mcm, #40-630.
