Question about Dell A215 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

Speakers completely failed-bought computer May 25, 2010

My local computer repair man found the problem when he brought new speakers from his shop. When a computer has only been connected a month, I feel some compensation should be made on your part.
When first hooking up the tower, a red sign saying "failure" showed up and I had to make an 80 mile round trip to replace the tower. At this point I am not very pleased with the performance of my NEW Dell computer!

I need a schematic for the complete amplifier secition of the Creative Labs FPS 2000 Computer speakers

Sounds like you enjoy repairing stuff. The problem is, you may only be chasing from one condition to the other. Remember the failed resistor was a secondary effect from a primary failure in advance of the resistor in the circuit. As a rule, the cost of repair exceeds the replacement cost; thus I suggest getting a whole new Circuit board or another system. You can get a good deal at Tiger Direct on the internet. Go to the Refurbished section and get a very low price.

Woofer connection peg snapped and need to repair? probably replace wire but can not open speaker to get at wire connection to speaker.

Your best bet would be to go to a speaker repair shop, the Bose system should be worth a lot more than the modest price to repair the connector plug/socket. If you can't find a speaker shop locally look for one online.

My Creative Inspire 5200 speakers are all in working condition. My problem is that I accidentally snapped the connection cable/ wire of one of the speakers. It feels wrong throwing away a working system...

Just pry open the case of the defective speaker, buy a new cable with identical jack from any audio/electronics shop, cut one end and solder it to the speaker. All you will need for that are : screwdrivers, knife and a soldering iron; it's a 15 minute job.

I purchased a new computer and after hooking everything up, everything works except I have no audio. I believe the speakers are internal to this monitor.

Double check that you have the speaker cable plugged into the proper jack (audio out - green) on the computer. Make sure that the audio hasn't been muted and that it is set for the correct output type (if you have a multi-channel audio option).

Try a standalone set of speakers to check if the audio driver for the on-board audio or sound card is working.

I hope this helps.

(I've found that the integrated speakers will fail before the monitor does. Since the integrated speakers are low-end and similar speakers are fairly cheap, get new speakers of a quality you like. Repairing the speakers isn't worth it.)

I accidentally connected VS4121 speakers to 240V instead of 120 V

Hey i am also from india. Every speaker unit has a built in fuse unit which protects it from the over voltage. just replace that with a new fuse of same rating. if you are not sure of what rating the fuse is, consult with the electrical shops. and then ask them to give a 240v to 110 or 120v AC to AC dimmer. just use this with your speakers and they will run with no problem. but if it is a serious damage inside then you need to take it to a service center.

Speakers need power scource

Yes, a general purpose 12V DC power adapter can be bought easily from your local electricals shop.Should not cost much.

Alternatively you can look for a cordless phone or CD player adapter with 12V DC output.

Europe-to-usa power supply problem?

Hello Sarah, I brought mine in Europe too and found out that they are rated for 220 VAC while in the US you will need a 110 VAC power adapter so if this is your case you need to buy a replacement.
