Would it fail all of a sudden? Is it hard to replace amplifier? Where does it go? Is there any way to be sure it's failed?

Hello,

The only thing you can press on your remote that will affect the sound is if you put it on mute or you reduce the volume to the lowest, besides that, the only problem to be suspected is the sound card in the television.

This will require you to open up the television and try to locate the wires that is connected to the speaker and where it is connecting from, to check for any fault.

I will suggest you connect your television to an external speaker by plugging in a speaker through the earphone plug in on the television.

You can as well connect the the television to your dvd player by connecting its audio out to your dvd's audio in, then you can connect your dvd to an amplifier and the sound would be of high quality.

Take care

There is no earphone plug on this dinasour tv but your other solution could work but don't have an amplifier handy. I saw briefly on display ch 3 said mono...never seen this before and all channels have no sound. It was also sudden which seems strange. This has happened before and I hit something on the remote and it turned the sound back on all channels.....any other thoughts?

Since you are using another remote for the television, you would have to go through the menu and select the option, go to sounds, and select the stereo. Also, using other remotes, the functions of the buttons on the former remote might be different from the functions on the new remote so one cannot tell what to press on the remote that would get it to work.

If that does not work, then you have to run a quick check on your manual to see if you can troubleshoot the problem from there.

Mono is a sound function on the television, it means you are using a single function in the sound system, so you have to select the stereo to change that.

My best bet is still for you to get a DVD player and a sound system, maybe an amplifier to get it working without any further troubles.

    Take care

That sounds like you have changed the audio settings from stereo to mono. I do not have a manual for this unit so you gotta tell me what options do you see under menu->Sound.

The only button that would do that is the Mute button - just use the volume button on the tv to raise the volume. If when you use them the sound is still missing then the problem isn't with a bad command (the only other command that would cause the loss of the sound is a change in audio settings but for that you must go into the menu - at least 6 button press process) it's a bad part inside the tv - most likely the amplifier has failed. Luckily this is a cheap fix, the part will cost less than $20.

Yes, all you describe is just what would you expect when an audio IC amplifier fails. The amplifier is an Integrated Circuit that is soldered on the motherboard of the tv and , yes, when it fails it fails suddently and completely, just like any other IC. To change all you have to do is to unscrew the small bolt that is keeping it pressed to the radiator and unsolder the 7 to 9 pins - it's a 5 minute job. Yes, it's easy to test the amplifier, but for that you must use a good voltmeter to check that it's got an input signal but no output to the speakers and to know what are the input pins on your exact model of IC- less than 20 seconds to do it.

It's time to call a repairman - it won't ask you more than $100 - easy, simple fix.

  • Azrael SRL Jul 10, 2010

At the back of the player you can see a set of several colored RCA connectors: Yellow is for the video signal - the one that goes to the tv, Red and White are the audio signal - connect those to an amplifier and you will have sound.

Hi jrossins,

Adjust the volume on your universal remote or on the TV front panel and check if that fix the problem. Your original remote should still work provided you have kept it in good condition. Just place a fresh new batteries, go to TV MENU, sound settings (if there is one) and check to make sure that it is not on mute (on second though, adjusting the volume should fix this ;-0). However, if disable then you have to enable it...

Check for loose cable connection from the TV going to your Comcast Digibox. Common cables use are; RCA or Composite (Red and White) and COAX cable.

You may also try connecting DVD player to check that your TV speakers are not defective.

Regards,

Angel

Change your TV Input; e.g. HDMI, RCA, etc.

  • angel lynn chua Jul 09, 2010

The best way was to connect another device / player (e.g. DVD player, CD player) where you will be able to test if sound would still goes out of the amplifier.

Another way, is to connect your DVD player using RCA (yello, white and red) cables directly to your TV to test TV speakers. If that works then you'll know it's a problem with your amplifier.

More of what we can do is isolation; if you were able to hear audio from other devices but not through the amplifier then were pretty sure that it is the problem.

Last resort, would be to replace it....

HOW DO I CHANGE THE MODE ON MY HT-X50 WITH A PHILIPS UNIVERSAL REMOTE

You should have its original remote control to select its inputs. To buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the sites Check this site too.

Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops. Visit some online sites too, which deals with electronic spare parts.

I have a magnovox TB110mw9 reciever that the audio button on remote does not work. it is hooked to a magnovox 20mt1331/17 tv. we have a RCA universal 4 device remote programmed to both. my 2 year old...

Universals do not do specific buttons like the AUDIO button on your Magnavox. Instead of wasting up to $20 on a universal that probably will not work, you should by the original remote for whatever it costs, because you know it will do all the features for your Magnavox unit that it has to offer. Many times ReplacementRemotes.com will get Refurbished remote available for really cheap. LIke $10 - $15. You can subscribe to the product so next time they get one in, the site will notify you immediately that they are in-stock.

Panasonic CT 27 SL - 13 GL how to connect external speakers

This TV is set up to connect to an external amplifier which that controls the speakers. It has an analog audio output which means you need an RCA audio cable (2 RCA plugs (red and white) on each end. You can't directly connect a set of speakers. The audio output jacks at between the antenna in and the video inputs. Then you need to enter the menu and enter the Audio submenu. Go to the Speakers item. Turn the TV speakers to off and fixed audio out.(The amplifier will adjust the volume.) Use the Up/Down arrows to navigate through the menu options, press enter to enter a sub-menu and the volume up button to change a setting.

There is also a headphone jack which may be compatible with computer speakers. That has a 3.5 mm jack. To use headphones, set the Speakers Audio item to TV speakers Off and variable audio out. (The TV controls will adjust the volume.)

To use a Universal remote to set the audio or modify the channel list, you need one that matches the Menu function of the original remote. You may need to try multiple codes for Panasonic TVs to get the button to work. Some low-end universal remotes may not have the menu button; get a different remote or use the menu button on the front panel of the TV.

To set the channel list, press Menu and select Setup. Go to the Prog Chan option. Then set your Mode in the first option (Cable or Air). Then choose Auto Program to scan all channels or Manual Program to edit the channel list.

The manual for the TV is available at retrevo: http://www.retrevo.com/support/Panasonic-CT-27SL13-TVs-manual/id/275ag210/t/2/ . You will need to enter a code to access the manual. See page 5 of the manual for the input connections (page 7 of the PDF).

My tv won't play my DVD player. I don't have the original remote, but it is programed to a universal remote. Whenever I press the "TV/VCR" button all kinds of numbers pop up on the screen and the tv...

Your TV is responding as if the Game button was pressed on the original remote. The additional stuff on the screen is to let you set the best brightness and other settings for video gaming. These screens should disappear on their own in 10 seconds if no buttons are pressed on the remote. See the manual http://www.symphonic.us/support/manuals.aspx and fill in the model number. If the remote were still controlling the TV, the CH up and down buttons would let you choose the Picture settings to change and volume up and down buttons would change the setting.

The TV/VCR button on the universal remote may be swapping the remote to control the VCR only. (Thus losing the ability to control the TV.) (What does the manual say about the button for the universal remote?) You may want to consider a different universal remote - programmable or http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=Search&o=c&uid=0&m=ST419E&uuid=12844254442790 which has an exact substitute.

Check your cables for the sound issue (try new ones) and make sure that they are fully seated in the jacks.

I hope this helps.

No sound

Hi, It seems that the SAP, no audio, distorted audio is a common problem for some RCA units even with the use of the original remote and in your case made more difficult with a replacement remote. Two things you can try: 1. Some say that unplugging the TV set for a long time, a couple of hours at least will do a hard/system reset on the microcontroller inside the TV hopefully resetting set-up the audio (including SAP) to default; 2. contact Customer Support at Thomson and explain your problem; 3. Try going a google on "RCA SAP manual reset"; or 4. Buy an original remote and not another replacement. Hope this work out for you and give you some ideas. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.

Speaker off

You will need an original Mitsubishi remote. The original remotes usually have 3 large oval buttons labeled Audio (up and down), Adjust (up and down) and Video (up and down). Pressing the Audio button will bring up the usual Bass, Treble, Balance... and Speakers Off. When you see those words press the Adjust button and the speakers will switch to On. Some sets have the Audio, Adjust and Video buttons behind a little door on the front of the set, so check there first and if not, get an original remote.
