It may not be your monitor at all...have you opened up the PC to see if it is shutting down automatically after a few seconds? I'd look deeper into it.

Ok so I have determined that it is not a monitor problem because I have hooked it up to another computer and it works. But how do I work on fixing the computer if I can't see anything to uninstall/reinstall, etc?

Ok now that you have determined it's not the monitor...try taking the cover off the side and checking to make sure that all fans are working. There should be 3 total...2 of which you will see when you open the case. There should be one directly on the motherboard covering the heatsink and CPU..and the other will be on the back of the case facing outward. The final fan will be inside the Power Supply case...if you look or feel the back of the PSU you should be able to tell if it is working. My guess is, it's either the Power Supply gone bad or the CPU fan is bad. Let me know how it goes...I'll try my best to get cha up and runnin.

You might need to update the driver of the graphic card or replace it.

Recheck the connections AGAIN. Make certain they are SECURE. IF this is an older computer, try vacuuming or cleaning out the inputs/outputs.

Check the pins on the male cable and see if ANY of them are bent or misaligned.

Would help to know what type of monitor & PC it is ...

On acer aspire5755g lcd flash lines will appear and disappear when clicking on display

Sounds like your lcd is going bad. Try tapping the lcd on the back of the lid and see if the lines flash or appear. Try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays ok without the flash lines then the video card inside the computer is good, but your original lcd screen is bad. If the Borrowed monitor displays the flash lines like your lcd screen then your video card inside the computer is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves your video card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

Flashing screen

Flashing screen when? What is on the flashing screen? Try plugging an external monitor on the laptop and see if it flashes. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and plug it to the laptop.

It can be any kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vga cable to connect to your computer's vga port. If it diplays on the borrowed monitor that proves your video card is ok and your original monitor is bad. If it does the same flashing on the borrowed monitor, then the video card in the computer has an issue.
