Thanks for using FixYa.

If you see lights blinking on the printer, its possible that you only have a connectivity issue. What you need to do is to try to plug the printer into a different computer and see if it gets detected. If it does get detected, what you can do is to use a different USB port on your laptop, if it still doesn't work, its possible that its the laptop's USB port that is not functioning correctly.

If the printer doesn't show any signs that it is turned on, or if you don't see lights blinking when you turn it on, its possible that you have a power system issue with the printer. Possibly a fried power module, if this is the case, you need to call the manufacturer to have it fixed or you can bring it to a local electronic repair shop and I'm sure they would be able to fix your printer by replacing fried capacitors etc.

I hope this helps. Thanks and have a nice day.

The client informs you that they are unable to print. What troubleshooting steps would you take to resolve the problem?

1. Turn the printer off. Unplug the power-cord from the wall-outlet. Plug it back in, turn it on, and try again.
2. If the printer's power-cord is connected to a power-bar or UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), ensure that the power-bar (or UPS) is turned on. Try some other appliance in that same electrical socket.
3. Is the printer on a "wired" or "wireless" network? If so, check that the printer has obtained an IP-address that does not conflict with other computers on the same network.
4. Is the printer connected via a USB cable to one computer? If so, change the USB cable to a "known-good" cable.
5. On the computer, click "Start" and then "Settings" and then "Control Panel" and then "Printers". Select the printer. Ensure that there is *NO* check-mark in front of "use this printer offline".
Select the printer, and "show queued print jobs" -- there should be some. If there are no entries, you need to select this printer as part of the 'print' dialogue inside Microsoft Word (or NotePad

I can not down load pages or pictures from my laptop to printed. It all locks up and does nothing.

What is the operating system running on your computer? How is the printer connected to your computer, wireless or hardwired with a usb cable? A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. If you're connected wireless, simply unplug and replug your printer into the power source to reset it. Reboot your computer as well. If usb-connected, disconnect your printer from your computer first. Then, unplug/re-plug printer into the power source and reboot pc. Try to print again.

I can not connect to the Internet. I have WiFi connection but can't do anything else

Plug your computer/laptop directly into router. Can you get to the Internet then?
If you CANNOT get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router, reboot your router. If it doesn't have a power switch, unplug it. Leave it unplugged. Next, you need to figure out if you have another modem for DSL or Cable. If you do have another DSL or Cable modem, unplug that device to. After 5 minutes has elapsed for both devices being unpowered, plug in the DSL or Cable modem to the power source. Keep the router unplugged from power. After your DSL or Cable modem has powered up for 5 minutes, plug your router into the power source. Wait a few minutes. Reboot your computer/laptop. Try the wireless connection again.
If you CAN get to the internet when your computer is plugged into the router. Reboot your computer. Try to connect again. If you cannot connect after rebooting, make sure you are connecting to YOUR OWN wireless access point and not someone else's.
Do you have other computers/laptops/wifi devices that CAN/CANNOT connect to your wireless / access the Internet?

Mfc-7420 says paper jammed/ and no feeding paper -all faulse messages-no paper there jammed

This is a huge problem, not only with the MFC-7420 printer, but literally every printer known to exist! The best way to solve this problem is to look at where the printer is connected. If it's connected to your computer, it may be trying to print something from there still, causing the information that the printer is receiving to become jumbled up and confused. I'm going to go step by step to try to help you out of your printer misery:

First: Unplug the printer from your computer entirely. Then unplug your printer's power source.
Second: Re-plug back in your printer's power source, and wait for it to turn on fully.
Third: Double check to make sure everything is working fine aside from the non-existent "paper jam."
Fourth: Re-plug back in the printer to the computer, and cancel all scheduled prints that are queued on your computer.
Lastly: Retry printing!

Hope this helps.

Hello. If everything else is working, printing and copying, unplug the printer from the power source. Check the telephone line from your phone company by unplugging the fax machine from the wall jack where it is connected to. Plug a telephone device straight to that wall jack and check for a dial tone. If there's no dial tone, contact your phone company. If there is, plug the fax machine back to that wall jack. You can also try replacing the telephone cable with a another known working cable. Plug the printer back to the power source. Check again. Hope this helps.

I lost power to my X2350. I have used it alot over the past 3 years without any kind of problems. is there a reset or a method of repair? JIM

Good day! Here are some tips I can share to you on how to troubleshoot the problem. First, check physical connection. Check power cable for any visible defects. Replace cord if there is. Make sure the power source is a known working one. Try not to use any power strips, plug printer straight to the wall jack without any extensions. With the power cord plugged in to a known working outlet, unplug and replug it in the back of the printer's power supply. If still no power, press the power button of the printer. Hope I can help you more on this. Good luck!

Can't scan--says usb not connected

Check your cable and ports. If you are running a laptop, make sure it is connected to AC. Plug in a known working device. If using a hub, directly connect the printer to the computer. Try a new USB cable. Check if your USB ports have been disabled for security or power-savings (in the Device manager or advanced power savings areas).

I hope these ideas help.

(sometimes a flaky USB port will see the device if you just unplug it and then plug it back in to the port. However, this will need to be repeated regularly.)

Both the orange and the green lights are blinking and printer will not print.

The printer is waiting to receive a document to print. Choose the print command from the software program that you are using.

Wait for the printer to complete the current task.

If the printer continues to blink after several seconds, follow these steps:
    1. Turn the printer off, and then turn it back on.
    2. If it does not turn off, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    3. Unplug the power cord from the power source. Wait 30 seconds.
    4. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
    5. Plug the power cord into the power source.
  • Restart the computer and the printer. Try printing again.
  • Make sure there is a direct connection from the printer to the computer. Remove scanners, switchboxes, and so on.
  • Try another cable.
  • Try connecting the printer to another computer. If the printer prints, then the problem was with the main computer, possibly a software or device conflict

Printer will not turn on

Check power source. Also, if you have a voltmeter, check the power going into the printer. If all is good there, unplug the printer from the computer and try to power it on. If it powers up while not connected to the computer, this could indicate a problem with the USB cable or the port on the computer. Try another cable or available port (if you have one). If the printer is connected via an external USB hub, try connecting it directly to the computer instead. If none of these work, post back here & I'll assist you further.
