The threaded collar into which the crank threads (for raising and lowering the charcoal tray) is stripped. Is that part user replaceable? If so, where can I get one?

Thanks. But, I see that they sell a replacement crank and an entire new lift mechanism, but I don't see anything about the threaded insert into which the crank threads.

Model :x 3519 right pedal stripped

If it is the pedal's threads that are stripped just purchase a new pair. If it is the threads on the crank that the pedal goes into then either replace the crank arm if it's the left side or find a bike shop that can install a "Helicoil" to repair the crank. Threads will be stronger than the original

Toyota overlocker sl3000 ; 3rd thread keeps snapping. How do I stop this ?

Third thread--is that the upper looper? Remove all the threads from the machine. Clip them below the thread tree, RAISE the presser foot, and then pull all 4 threads down through the needle. (Never Pull Up!!)

ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot.
Rethread beginning with the Upper Looper, then Lower Looper, then the needles. Be sure to ALWAYS thread in this order!! (On most newer machines, when threading the Lower Looper, always finish with the Lower Looper "draped" over the top of the Upper Looper.)

If a thread breaks, remove the threads and start over from the beginning as trying to fish a thread through the existing threads very SELDOM works.

Verify each thread path is correct.

When threading each thread and to insure the threads are seated in the tensioners, give each thread an extra little tug when going through the tension disk.

Be sure to oil your machine frequently to keep it operating smoothly!

PRO LINE BABY LOCK SERGER, BOTTOM LOOP TOO LOOSE.

Make sure the lower looper thread is seated properly in the tension disk. (RAISE the presser foot. Grasp the thread between the thread tree and the tension disk and with the other hand, grasp the thread below the tension disk and give a little tug.) When threading, always RAISE the presser foot so the tension disks are released.

If the lower looper thread is still too loose, set it to a tighter setting until it creates the stitch you want.

Model 3434D. Why does lower looper thread keep breaking?

Usually thread breakage is due to incorrect threading or tension set too tight. When thread breaks, the Best Course of Action is to clip all the threads between the thread tree and the tension disks, Raise the presser foot, and pull all the threads down and out. (Never pull threads up through the tension disks.)

RAISE the presser foot, rethread each and every thread in the order specified in the manual and confirm that each thread path is correct. Grasp each thread between the thread tree and the tension disk with one hand and with the other hand grasp the thread below the tension disk and give a little tug to make sure each is seated firmly in the tension disk. Also on most machines, the lower looper thread must drape over the the upper looper before being pulled under the presser foot.

Lower the presser foot and set each tension guide to the midway point (the factory standard) and retest.

Usually, rethreading only the broken thread will fail. (For some reason, sergers are very finicky.) Just bite the bullet and rethread each and every thread.

Crank assembly issues?

It sounds like you may have stripped the threads on your crank bolt. You may be in a situation where the only fix is to either, re-tap the threads using the correct size tap or replace the crank shaft.

My top thread keeps catching and bunching up under the needle plate.

  • Raise presser foot when upper threading.
  • Thread normally through all guides
  • Lower presser foot
  • Thread needle, leaving a 6" thread tail
  • Raise foot and gently pull thread (no tension)
  • Lower foot & gently pull thread (you'll feel resistance)
  • Delint upper tension with Compressed Dry Canned Lint Remover ie: Computer Quality. Be sure no thread is in machine and foot is up so tension is released

There are no threads on the crank arm to screw a pedal on. What do you do now?

1. replace the crank.
2. Purchase a Heli-Coil or other brand at an auto store. It looks like a tube with threads on both sides that will screw in to the stripped hole and there by install new threads. Bring the pedal to the auto store to make sure it will thread in to the "female" threads on the Heli-coil.

The problem is the pedal is steel and the crank arm is soft aluminum. Also, people damage them because one pedal is normal thread and the other is reverse thread meaning you turn clockwise to loosen.

Stripped bicycle pedal

Better replace the pedal and most probably the crank arm as well. Sometimes a new pedal can cut the threads true again on the crank arm but the crank arm may need replacement too, depending on the damage. Remember to fit the correct side pedal. The pedal threads differ between left and right and pedals are usually marked "L" or "R".

Threading a husqvarna huskylock 1001L serger

Solution taken from "Handbook for Huskylock Sewing Machine Models 1001L/1000L/1000"

1. Raise the presser foot by using presser foot lever. When the presser foot is raised, the two thread tension discs in the thread tension control panel are released so that thread passes freely between them. Otherwise thread tension may not be correct.

Important! When threading the needle, always be sure to lift the presser foot lever, and also take care to thread in the proper order.

Threading order:
1. Upper looper thread (green)
2. Lower looper thread (blue)
3. Double chain stitch looper thread (purple) in case of 5 thread stitch or double chain stitch
4. Right needle thread (red)
5. Left needle thread or double chain needle thread (yellow)

Caution!
Because the left thread tension dial (yellow) is used for either the left needle or the double chain stitch needle, these needles will never be used at the same time.

Upper looper (green) sequence:
1. Thread holder (silver triangle openings attached to thread holder stand)
2. Thread guide (flat silver clips just behind thread tension disc)
3. Thread tension disc (circular knobs with numbers for tension setting)
4. Pull thread around upper looper guide and upper looper
5. Pull thread into hole of upper looper

Lower looper (blue)
Repeat 1, 2, 3.
4. Pull thread around guide (see color coded chart inside front serger cover).

Easy threading mechanism (for lower looper)
1. Pull out the lower looper threading lever
2. Thread the lower looper and position the thread on hook of the lower looper
threading lever.
3. Push the lower looper threading lever back to its basic position while
holding the end of the thread.

Caution:
When returning the lower looper threading lever, always make sure that the two
blue triangle marks (directional arrows) meet each other.

Right needle thread (red)
Left needle thread (yellow)
Important: Thread the needles after threading of lower looper and upper looper.
First raise the presser foot lever, and then thread the needle threads in order shown in color coded thread guide.
