Hi,
The maximum Supported RAM. Is 512mb. So if you have 2 slots that would= 2 x 256mb strips.
Detailed Specs Here:-

hi

not every motherboard or on board video is compatible with windows 8

what windows was it running previously

windows 8 was designed for 64 bit platforms which requires 4 gig of ram but you have to also take into account the other hardware components and there maximum configuration

i have run win 8 on 2 gig of ram but it struggles with you tube downloads

i upgraded the ram to 4 gig and run win xp win 7 and win 8.1 on the hard drive

cheers

I would suggest you buy a better computer. 128mb of RAm is not really enough for Win ME. you should have a minimum of 256mb but go for the most your computer can handle. The reason the computer fails on the RAM check is because the RAM has failed.

I just got an old HP Pavillion a335w, and it seems to work fine, but even with a new video card I can't get any thing to display on the screen. I have seen it for a few seconds, but then it goes blank on...

I have a Compaq that came with this board and a celeron 1.8 or 2.0 I believe. The fastest P4 that will run is a Intel Northwood 2.8 Ghtz 400 FSB nothing ELSE! Northwood 2.8 is the fastest 400 FSB, the boards chipset won't run anything faster than 400 FSB. Mine is running, Win 7 the Northwood P4 2.8 with 2 gigs ram, 160 gig HD and a 256 video card for over 5 years (minus win 7, had XP before with no issues. Good for light gaming, web surfing and MS office! Add a Zotac 512 MB PCI or Sparkle Video card and you can handle most more medium gaiming out today! My cards have HDMI and DVI output. I highly recommend it!

You should get a quad core processor, with a minimum of 3 to 4 gigs of ram, and an asus SLI or crossfire Motherboard. This and a nice 1 terrabite drive can be done for under $500.00, unfoutunatelly, thats just the way they make it. I PLAY cod4, and I run a dual core with 2 gigs of ram and a $300.00 asus MB, with twin 7900 video cards in sli. and it just about runs it, the new games are processor and ram intense, let alone video cards. I would suggest a single card if cost is a factor, you can always add a second or even a third card later. But the you don't want to be the slowest guy playing, especially if you like first person multiplayer shooters

MY THIS QUESTION IS ONLY FOR CONCAKA

AGP stands for accellerated graphics port and is a slot for a AGP video card to be added. These cards can come with amounts of memory embedded in them up to 512meg and will only go into a computer with a AGP slot. these cards do not fall into the 2 gig motherboard limit. That limit refers to the system RAM, not the ram on the video card.
If you go to START- RUN -type "dxdiag" without the """" in the box. the direct x tool will tell you how much of that 2 gig limit is installed on your computer. at that point you will need to do therough math and figure out how much more memory you need to add to reach the 2 gig max.
Hope this helps you.. Regards..

I have sys which contain main board marrcury(p1865d7).now i will run visual studio2008 but not properly run so plz give suggetion @ processor & ram

According to Microsoft: Minimum: 1.6 GHz CPU, 384 MB RAM, 1024x768 display, 5400 RPM hard disk Recommended: 2.2 GHz or higher CPU, 1024 MB or more RAM, 1280x1024 display, 7200 RPM or higher hard disk
I know that Visual Studio 2008 runs fairly slowly on a 2.4GHz laptop with 1GB RAM, so I can't imagine that it would run all that well on a 1.6GHz machine.

Long periods of hard drive activity

Most likely, it could be the amount of ram you have in your computer. If your running low on ram and it is using the virtual memory your computer can be running all the time causing a slow down in whatever you do. Check to see how much ram you have :)

Depends! The amount of RAM has nothing to do with capacity of the hard drive. If your motherboard is a P3, it probably has to memory slots that will handle 256mb each (512 total). It sounds like you have a 128mm chip and a 256mb chip installed now. I won't even attempt to run XP with less than 256mb of RAM. You can run XP with 128mb, but not very well. With Windows XP SP2, you will have to have at least 256MB. Most P4 or newer computers use DDR RAM wich can be bought at larger capacity (ie 1000MB).
