Defrost the unit for two days with the doors open...I know you're going to lose your contents. You may have ice on the coils internally. Next make sure you've cleaned the external coils under the unit. Leaving liquids open inside the unit or setting it colder than required will both cause issues like the ones you've got. Also, be sure all air vents inside the unit are unblocked and the door closes tightly all around.

SOURCE: Hissing freezer

Hi criago

I am very sorry to say that you have pierced the coolant tubing, the hiss you here is the coolant gas escaping. Your Fridge Freezer may be unrepairable because it is very hard to get into the area concerned.
Sorry to break the news to you.

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.
I attempted to locate an answer to resolve the issue for you, but you have not provided me with enough information to access my service database.
Below is a link to common solutions that will help you with parts and diagnostic procedures that are specifically tuned to your manufacturers data plate information.
It provides exploded view imagery, belt routing diagrams, parts imagery and function, parts ordering and shipping information, error code details, just about anything you need to get your appliance up and running again. Once you access the site you will be able to navigate numerous pages of information on your product. You will need to enter your model number to access your product information.

Tip: Always provide the complete information provided on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit, and not in the user’s manual. This will help you acquire a more accurate and expeditious response to your complaint. I will post the most common solutions to your complaint. For more specific information please refer to the tip and/or link provided.

First, check to see if the light comes on or if there is any fan, motor, or other sound coming from the appliance? If so, the refrigerator isn't really completely stopped--go to the specific problem you are having. If not, try adjusting the thermostat to a colder setting. If that doesn't work, read on.

Second, check to see if there is power getting to the refrigerator. To do that, plug a lamp or other device into the same outlet the refrigerator is plugged into. If there's no power, check the fuses or circuit breakers. If the fuses or breakers aren't the problem, contact a qualified electrician to restore power to the outlet.

If there is power to the appliance but it still seems to be stopped, there may be a problem in one or more of these:

  • Wiring

  • Thermostat

  • Defrost timer

  • Compressor

  • Overload and/or relay

Unfortunately, we can't describe all of the possible problems and repair solutions here. If you are unable to troubleshoot the problem from here, you may need to contact a qualified appliance repair technician

If my assistance helped resolve this issue, please show your appreciation by rating how effective my advice was in resolving this issue.
Thank you,

Water is dripping into fridge compartment from section separating fridge and freezer compartments, otherwise, both seem to be working fine. unit was new in 2001, model ET21PK.

Hello,

That water is from the melting frost of the automatic defrost cycle. Their is drain in the freezer behind the back wall under the evaperator coil that is blocked, so instead of defrost water draining it's pooling in the freezer or in some case espically on models with the freezer on the top,the water is leaking from the freezer vents into the fresh food compartment.
The way to clear the drain is remove back plate and remove all ice build up and GENTLY make a small hole in drain through then totally flush w/warm water.
The exact location of drain is under the coil behind back freezer plate in the center

Good luck

I hope this helps

GE Concept II fridge leaks inside fridge and then out to floor. Noticed that water is dripping in back under freezer where there is a cup-like part. What is the problem?

That cup, or the hose that it leads to, out the back and down to the bottom is plugged. It has to be cleaned out so that when the freezer automatically defrosts, the water will run into the cup and down the hose to evaporate in the tray under the compresser. You should be able to pull that cup off to clean it. The hose is a little awkward to get to , but if you cdan blow through it, everything should good.

My compact fridge does not defrost and ice builds up in freezer section. How can I disconnect the freezer and not use it?

Lynne, the freezer section is what provides the cooling for the fridge, so there is no way to disconnect the freezer and still be able to have the fridge operate.

With the small compact fridges, the only thing you can do is to manually defrost the unit, when the ice buildup gets too much, which can vary, based on how you use your fridge, how often it gets opened and closed, etc.

Some compact fridge models have a small push button in the center of the temperature setting control knob - if your's has one, you can push that to initiate a self defrost cycle. However, you'll need to have some towels handy to collect the water that will result from melting off the freezer section.

There are not many small, compact fridge units that have the no-frost feature of full sized fridges, as it is more costly to build in all the needed components required to have frost-free operation. Not to mention the size of the fridge gets much larger, because of all the space needed to house those features (defrost heaters, electronic controls, ciruculating fans, control vents, sensors, drip/drain pan, etc., etc.)

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

Freezer works, fridge not cooling but water was leaking from under fridge a few weeks ago, could not find source . Small compact frigidaire unit for dorm room.

Most if not all fridges under $2000 only use a single compressor meaning the refrigeration is provided by venting the freezer air into the compartment. Water under the unit likely indicates the fridge is not properly sealing and moisture is condensing on the cold coils and dripping.

Leaking frost-free Zanussi fridge-freezer

Has this thing a separate frezer and cooler compartment.
Have tried to completely defrost and clean that thing.
At times like in airco's the pinch valve for the cooling process to effect (expansion) is stuck frozen, or very seldom broke.

Water leak under fridge, probably due to defrost cycle. Fridge model is TFG 20 JAWW

sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine
