Question about Optoma RD65 65" Rear Projection HDTV

6 inch Shadow on tv screen of a Optomatv model RD65

I have a 6 year old OptomaTV model number RD 65. It has performed very well. However, it recently developed a 6 inch shadow in the picture on the right hand side. The local technician said that the only way to repair the micro processor is to replace the entire micrprocessor unit which seems strange. The cost of the part was apporx $1700!!

Have you had any experience with this type of problem with this TV and is it possible to fix it without incurring this major cost--which makes it cost prohibitive. thx ETN

I have a 65 inch Samsung TV approximately 2 1/2 years old . Recently developed a 10 inch Parker sheeted lying horizontally across the bottom of the screen. Is this repairable? What's wrong with it?

every tv is repairable , it is just a matter of money
take it to a tv repair shop get a proper diagnosis and a quote then decide to repair or replace it
the problem that most people have is that they try diy repairs first and generally end up with a unit that is still faulty and has cost more in parts than what a new unit would have cost

4 year old vizio 42 inch tv lcd. While watching tv, the screen started dimming. There is a 4 inch shadow all along left side of the screen and the 1 inch line shadow going down the middle of the screen.

Maybe a power supply or related issue but at 4 years of age the set has reached its life span----parts will be hard or impossible to find.

If you got four years I would retire it and recycle it and then replace it.

3" vertical shadow on left side of screen

Either (on this plasma) a damaged/bad sustain board for left side of screen or a problem with the Display panel--set by model number is 5-6 years old so may or may not be worth fixing.

Mitsubishi TV Model #WS65903 - Green Shadow Lines on Screen

Something is not right here--The green is adjustable in the TECH menu--did this person adjust or try to adjust in the customer or the TECH menu?

If you confirm actual model number I can tell you how to get into the TECH menu--yes--green will not adjust in customer menu--it determines geometry and is only adjusted in the TECH menu.

Also, this set requires any convergence adjustments to be done in 480 and then in 1080--if only adjusted in one mode the other will still be bad.

Let me know if you know how to adjust in TECH menu or not--with exact model number I can tell you how to get there.

If this helps you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

My Optoma HDTV Model RD50 needs replacement of its internal lamp. Which model lamp is the correct one and how much does the lamp cost? Regards - Lee

Call Optoma technical support listed on the optomatv website. They will ask for the set serial number. Based on the serial number, they will tell you which replacement lamp is the correct model for your TV. (I found this out after ordering the wrong replacement lamp based simply on the model number of my TV and finding that it did not fit.)

I have a 65 inch toshiba projection tv about 5 years old that has a problem with the picture. the red blue and green lines are not aligning, giving it a 3d looking image. i was just wondering what it might...

Greetings fireftr2001,

You may need to perform convergence on the unit. This is something that needs to be done periodically and especially if you have recently moved the unit. You can normally find the convergence option in your menu system.

Thanks,
