Question about Brother MFC-8460N Laser Printer
Brother 8460N 4 in 1 Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier. Doesn't load the paper from the tray. All that happens is a clicking noise. What is happenning is that when trying to print it moves the pare in the up to the rollers but then drops back down before the paper can get fed in to get printed on. When it falls, back down, that is when you here the clicking or 'snapping' sound.
Put paper in the upper slot (known as the MP), pull all paper from lower tray, send document to print and see if it prints ok - if it does, the problem may be with the lower print drawer - there is a spring under metal pad that lifts paper so it's grabbed by the printer paper transport. the spring may have broken or become dislodged so separation pad (the metal plate holding paper up) remains down - the transport "thinks" there is no paper

This also occurs when the paper size slide bar lock in the back of tray does not hold the paper in position and the paper moves back as little as 1/8 of an inch.. Move the slide back into position, relock it again and be gentle when sliding the tray back into position.
