Yes, if the wire flexs a lot, or you live in a snowy, icy area, the antenna will **** out after just 2 years.

A k 40 magnetic antenna has high swr and wire and everything looks fine

The K40 is known to fail after that many years in service when moisture gets into the coil it causes it to change it resonance freq. and hence the higher SWR. Buy and new antenna and enjoy 10 years is way to long for an antenna to last.

Riso 370 d-17

D-17 indicates incorrect master roll. there's several possibilites for this. the mosty common are:

1. its an incorrect master roll
2. (common) if you look at the back of the drum there's a black coupling jack. check the silver pins. sometimes the pins come undone and push back from making contact. (sometimes not straightenable and must be replaced)
3. (less common) Same issue as above, pins are pushed back on black jack behind master making unit inside of riso. (sometimes not straightenable and must be replaced)
4. (rarely) antenna is loose either inside of drum or from antenna pcb in lower right corner, behind front cover of master making unit.
5. (even more rare) bad rf reader, antenna, cable (usually visably pinched) or antenna pcb

My stereo antenna wad stolen from my 2005 jeep liberty and I would like to get a replacement from the junk yard is there a vehicle that has an interchangeable antenna

Most Jeep models use the same antenna. As long as it wasn't a powered extending antenna, any Jeep antenna (and most other Chrysler) should work.
Best of luck.

When I talk to serveral different people they say they can hear me but there is also a squealing sound. I have checked all the connectors and I am using a ft fiberglass anntena that is hooked to the...

The mic could be no good.

The things that cause squeal are RF feed back, and or talk back that is too loud. If you have talk back, this is what is causing the feed back. If not, then it is most likely RF feedback. There could be something wrong with the coax, or antenna.

A major cause of this is called common mode current. This is when the rf travels back down the out side of the coax making the coax act like an antenna. It also is bad for the radio because it will change the electrical length of the antenna and will potentially raise the SWR and can damage the radio.

To stop common mode,as close the the antenna that you can, take 6 feet of the coax and make a tightly wound and uniform coil out of the coax, and use zip ties or electrical tape to keep it together.

This will stop the RF from traveling back down the outside of the coax, and in turn will stop the RF feed back if it is caused by common mode current.

Of course, it may just be a bad mic.

2-3 years old, acquring signal, not ant-error,

Do you get audio out of the stereo jack? Do you have the proper antenna with TWO leads for TERR and SAT ? It could also be as simple as your antenna alignment not being to the SW, or you could have had a local repeater get shutdown. Also, this radio is several years old (designed in 2001) and could be 'shot' already from heat damage as these get really hot. I would try the radio in the car with a car antenna perched on the roof and see if it works; if it does, then it's your antenna alignment. Good luck my friend and report back please.

Your antenna is probably still to long. You need to do a few things to see if your antenna is too long or too short. Here is a link to something I found that is very informative, and a post on how to do what you need to do. there is also a thread on the site that has common problems for high swr.

AM/FM stereo receiver often fully "drops" the reception of listened to radio station(s), or reception will often decrease in volume. Repositioning of the receiver's connected antenna wire often has no...

Possible solution. I have fixed two with this problem. When the radio drops to a hard surface, the ferrite coil antenna is the heaviest component on circuit board. Look for cracks in solder or broken wires where attachments to circuit board occurs for this component. Use a fine point soldering iron with low heat.

I have a 520c gps and fish finder, got it last summer, only been used about 7 times between last year and this year. Now all of a sudden the gps, doesn't show any satilites except one, and it won't lock on...

The problem is most likely in the antenna.

Have you installed a RADAR? The GPS will not acquie a saellite unless it is above or below the bea emitted from the RADAR.

The easiest thing to check is corrosion on the plug where it attaches to GPS.

Look at tour satellite status page. Is WAAS turned on or off? If it is on try turning it off and see if that makes a difference. If the GPS acquires with WAAS turned off, you probably need a software update.

Next follow the antenna wire to the antenna and look for any signs of damage, particularly where any new accessories have been installed. It is also a common point of failure if the cable is stressed near where it enters the antenna.

You may be able to convince your friendly local marine retailer such as West, Cabala, or Boater's World to let you buy an antenna for test purposes and then return it when you are done. You don't have to snake wires all over the boat, simply place the antenna somewhere where it has a clear view of the sky and plug it in.

If the antenna is not the culprit your next step would be to check your software version which appears when you start up the display. If it is not version 2.3.0, get a blank MMC card and download a software update from Lowrance at this link:
SOFTWARE VERSION 2.3.0

It should include intructions on how to install the update.

If that fails, your only option left is to box up the display and antenna and send it out for service.
