Question about LG Washing Machines

1 Answer

From reading your pages I appear to have a pump blockage / problem. How do I access the pump (not the filter). I removed the back and the top but access is not possible and the bottom does not seem come off easily. Model WM14311FD Thanks John

Thanks for the links. My model has a base that is held in place by ~12 screws, even when the screws are undone the base will not away to allow access to the base. Access via the back panel is limited. Maybe the front comes comes away but is is not obvious how to do this.

Washing machine won't drain

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Drain Pump Filter
This is the most common problem. Some have a small cover in the lower front put a screwdriver in the hole and turn counterclockwise to remove. There will be a cover to remove, water will come out so be prepared with a towel or wet vac. Clean this out. Other Machines will need to access the drain pump to get to the filter. This can be done by removing the back panel on some washers. On others you will need to remove the lower panel or complete front panel depending on model. The filter is located inside the large hose from the tub to the pump. Remove the hose and clean filter.

Drain Pump
The drain pump may have failed. If you hear it making noises you will need to remove the drain pump and check for obstructions, broken impeller, or not spinning freely. Remove obstructions if it does not spin freely replace the drain pump. If you hear it hum replace the pump if nothing is found inside. If no noise is heard check the pump for power. To do this remove the wire connectors and connect a voltmeter turn to a drain cycle, refer to tech sheet or service manual for proper voltage reading, usually any voltage would probally indicate a faulty pump. If no voltage to the pump replace the main control board.

Hoses
Check the hoses from the pump by disconnecting them and make sure there are no obstructions. Check your hoes drain, if it is a slow drain this can cause your washer to not properly drain.

Whirlpool washer dryer has been making a grinding noise for a while and now won't drain

Hi.

The grinding noise was probably being caused by objects stuck in the drain filter. Disconnect power and check the drain filter. On Whirlpool front loaders the filter is accessed from the front of the machine. You will need to unscrew the filter cap and to remove blockage With top loaders the access is underneath or at the back. You lean the appliance on one side and disconnect the hose directly connected to the pump. Disconnect power before starting maintenance.

Here a page about drain/spin problem.

If you need parts see this tip explaining how to find parts and diagrams for most appliances: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

My wont drain the water after washing

Hi.

The problem has been posted by mistake in kitchen ranges. I guess that we are talking about a washing machine or about a dishwasher. In case of a dishwasher, clean drain well and filter and check the setting of the drain hose at the back. If that is not enough, the bottom panel (or the kickpanel) of the dishwasher must be removed to access pump and check for blockage in hose connected to pump.

In the case of a washing machine:

Check the position of the drain hose. Ensure that the height is as specified by the manual or you get siphoning and drain does not end.

Access the drain filter. With most front loaders this located in front at the base, there should be a trim or an access panel. In some case pump access is at the back of the machine or underneath. With top loaders the access is either at the back or at the bottom of the machine.

The machine has a pressure switch. It is a sensor connected to a long thin rubber hose. The pressure switch is often in control assembly. Clean the hose and the switch. One way to test it is by blowing into the switch, but manufacturers say this must not be done because you can damage a good switch.

Most machines have a tech sheet tucked inside the control panel assembly. You take off panel that is held by a couple of screws and see if there is the envelope with the sheet.

Here a page on no spin problem.

Start checking drain hose and drain filter.

My washing machine wont drain, so the rinse and spin cycle cannot activate. Please help. Thanks

Hi.

Check drain hose at the back, then access drain pump filter and remove eventual blockage. If that does not fix the problem, a common fault is the pressure switck, try blowing in tube and removing soap.

Where?s the filter on my GE WSXH208A Front Loader? Thank you beltronic205 (GE WSXH208A Front Loader won?t drain). I drained the tub by lowering the drain hose as suggested. But where is the filter, what...

There is no acutal filter on this unit...You cab remove the back panel to access the drain pump ...Or tilt the washer back and access it from the bottom...Remove the drain hose from tub to drain pump...(careful of flow of water from tub)...Check the hose for any blockage...If no blockage then your pump is bad..

Error code F05 means pressure switch jammed on full.
Remove the lower rear cover of washer.
Remove the large black hose fastened to bottom of drum
Remove and clean filter in side hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for blockage or obstruction here as well.
This should solve the problem

Thankyou.

My bosch exxcel has water sitting in bottom and doesn't appear to be draining down.

Check to see if there is a removable lower plastic cover at front of washer, if there is, then remove this, and you should find the pump filter located here, unscrew anticlockwise to remove and clean.
If no sign of filter, then remove rear panel of washer, and access the pump from here to check for blockage.
Please rate my solution.
Thanks.

Water not being taken out. Appears the pump is not working.

sounds like the impeller on the drain pump is blocked.Check filter thoroughly, if you cannot remove blockage you may have to remove tubes from pump to clear out any blockage.

Miele W1712 washing machine drain fault

Just had the same problem, after Much patience and persistence I found the blockage at the y piece that joins the pump to the outlet hose air trap towards the top of the machine LHS with the top and cover off.

It was clogged solid therefore no back pressure on the top little ball valve (between the air trap and the outlet) therefore no seal therefore norain therefore a drain-fault that persists regardless of a cleaned pump filter.

Washer-dryer not emptying

Remove the back pannel ( a whole load of screws i must say )
Then you will see at the bottom on the back of the drum where the filters connects... Remove the clip and check and remove any blockage....

Before opening it is possible to check if a blockage exist is to dicconect the waste pipe from the sink and lay it on the floor... Gravity forces the water to flow to the lowest point.. if no water comes out of the pipe then you definately have a blockage...
