Hi, the blower motor is going out, windings. This is not unusual. You will need to have it replaced. Its getting hot and shutting down on its internal overload. It will try and start again, but will keep stopping. I would recommend having this done as it is one of the hardest motors to get out. I would make some calls and get an estimate from several places. You will save $$$ that way. I hope this has helped you even though its going to cost around &175.00 give or take?
Sincerely,

My 2005 ford freestyle the heheater or ac runs ; it makes this sound clap clap clap then stops

do you still hear the fan motor whining as if it was still turning or is it totally silent? you should run a jumper wire to the positive on the fan motor and see if it cycles and the noise is present if it runs steady but the noise is still there something is hitting the blower wheel or the bearing in the fan motor went and the blower motor must be replaced it could be that the clip that holds the wheel on the motor shaft broke and now the wheel is hitting the inside of the heater case good luck Stephen

Hear whining sound only when heater is on.

Is it the heater fan making the noise? Some can be lubricated, others have to be replaced. I hope this is helpful.

When turned off the tv makes a whining sound (not the expected whining noise) and then sounds like a wheel (like on Wheel of Fortune) slowly winding down. Yesterday it didn't come on (sound, no picture) so...

The whining if it sounds like a mosquito type whine! it can be a capacitor, i have same issue, you can usually hear when u are on standby but if your hearing like a "wheel of fortune"! and slowing down would likely indicate it's a fan which is possibly covered in dust and the whining is the fan stopped trying to power forward or it slowly moving and slowing down. If you think it's the fan you should unplug your TV to avoid the fan burning out then have someone who knows what their doing take a look at than fan for you and clean the dust away from it, you may be able to get some access through vents in the side and can try your vacuum cleaner in those vents while TV is unplugged but i'd not go messing inside a TV without wearing some rubber gloves!
Looks like the engineer would need to remove TV casing, check fan to see if it is blocked with dust or not, or if just failing for other reason then either clean or replace. If you don't get it done and the fan fails to cool the TV your risking other vital components overheating and breaking for good so best get it looked at, sounds like the fan to me...

SONY KDF-50WE655 Cooling Fan has become too noisy. It's not the little horizontal fan that is easy to see but something else near it that keeps whining after the little fan stops.

You have a total of 4 fans in this unit.
Fan# 1 - Optics unit ( left side )
Fan# 2 - Large fan facing rear of set, behind metal shield
Fan# 3 - Optics unit ( right side )
Fan# 4 - Mounted directly above the chassi assy

Should I run unit with windows open and atic fan on????

It seems that you would be changing lots of air volume with windows open and the attic fan on. I suggest turning off the unit unless the room is closed, so it can recirculate and clean THAT air.

Have you checked the timing belt?. I dont know what you mean when you say it wont turnover, just whines. It either DOES NOT CRANK, CRANKS, or it CRANKS BUT WONT RUN. Check the AUDIO fuse in the fuse box, it may have a yellow fuse holder around it.

Fan whining and blades not going

Sounds like your compressor outside is frozen up or (locked up) the smell is outside correct? it could also be your fan also in your condensor unit outside the easiest way is to listen for fluid movement (if your freon is moving then your compressor is working and you need to lean toward a fan motor. check to see if you can move the fan blades in the compressor (outside ) if the problem is in the house then approach in the same way with the power to the unit turned off only If you cannot turn it most likely fan motor replacement is in order, and pressure sensors are not letting your condensor run. theres a few things to try hope i have helped .Honestly it probably would not hurt to let a service man look at it anyway, but this way at least you're a little wiser chris

Atic ventilating fan

If you are bypassing the t-stat and it is running I would say most likely that the t-stat is your problem. I would need more info on this device to see what options you would have for a t-stat controller.

Hope this helps Ya
