Ihave a craftsman ridding mower model #917.289900 new belt for the deck new blads it still leaves miss cut in the middle anybody know why?

usually if its missing cut it's not rotating fast enough, or the other thing it can be the blades have not been sharpened. some companies that make blades don't sharpen them so they can be handled, it will have a leading edge and you need a sharpening stone to put a cutting edge on the blade. and the blade has to be put in the right way round. flate top cutting edge bottom.

This is the angle between the blade and the stone.

Do I need to sharpen my knife?

Every time you use your knife, the edge will become slightly less sharp, and you are more likely to injure yourself with a dull blade than a sharp one, as they can slip while you are working. Make sure you buy good knife-sharpening steel and use it each time before cutting with your knife it will also prolong your knife.

How to sharpen the blades on my Swiss army knife?

You can sharpen your Swiss Army Knife is using a circular motion. Start by holding the blade away from you at the proper angle. Run the blade of your Swiss Army Knife in a clockwise motion on the stone until you have sharpened that side of the blade. Turn the blade over and repeat with a counter clockwise motion.

Can i sharpen my electic trimmers using sandpaper

Things You'll Need: Three-sided blade sharpener (coarse, medium, fine) Small flat head screwdriver step 1 Using the flat head screwdriver, unscrew the trimmer blades and remove them carefully. Wipe off any oil, grime or dirt that has built up on them as this may make it more difficult to handle and keep them in place during the manual portion of the sharpening process. Step 2 Separate the blades and re-apply only the moving blade to the tension spring. Then apply the moving blade to sharpener surface and turn the clippers or trimmers on. Hold the moving blade on the surface of the sharpener and apply light pressure while moving the blade back and forth for one to two minutes. You can also lay the blade on the sharpener first, then put the trimmer tension spring directly on the blade. Step 3 Turn off the clippers and remove the moving blade. It should look shiny and feel sharper. Step 4 Remove the guide from the guide blade by unscrewing it using the flat head screwdriver. Place the guide blade on the sharpening surface and manually run it back and forth for about one or two minutes or until it's been sharpened to your satisfaction. Screw the guide back onto the guide blade while being careful to readjust it before you tighten the screws. Step 5 Screw all the blades back on the trimmers and power them on to make sure they've been fitted correctly. Test them on your own hair to make sure they've been sharpened correctly and are set to the desired depth. Ads by Google Best Knife Sharpener Sharpen like the pros. Complete kit w/ 1x30 belt sander. If they are very dull, you will want to start with the coarse or medium side of the sharpener. If they just need a small amount of sharpening, use the fine side. If you've never sharpened electric trimmers before, you may want to visually observe and feel the sharpness of the blades with your fingers before you start to sharpen it. It may be hard to tell if the blades are sharp enough if you don't feel them just before you apply them to the sharpening surface.

Took oster blades apart and now don't know how to put them togeth

First thing about Detachable clipper blade are Tension and straightness, You need a special tool to set the tension on your blade and the spec's on how much tension, plus you need to set the straightness of the tension spring. With out these tools your blade will not cut, even if some body sharpens the blade and do not set the tension correctly and straightness. You need to send it to a professional sharpening company, mannyssharpening.com has a mail order service he charges $8.00 to sharpen set to factory spec's and this price includes return shipping, they are fast in service.

Doesn't cut. we sharpened, we cleaned, it's

Most likely, the blades were not adequately sharpened. To effectively sharpen these type blades, you need a special sharpening wheel designed for this task. If you have attempted to sharpen them on a sharpening stone or other device or you are not sufficiently knowledgeable in sharpening these blades, you probably have not satisfactorily sharpened them. Often, attempting to sharpen without the correct equipment makes them worse than when you started.

How can i change the blades

If it looks like a bolt holding the blade on then you'll have to put a wrench on the nut on top of the pulley top side of deck and use an impact or breaker bar on the bolt were the blade is. When putting the blades back on when the bolt bottoms out just tighten up on the nut a little more (with impact) or as much as you can (with breaker bar) also wedge a block of wood in the blade (blade turning counter clockwise to remove- clockwise to tighten) just in case the blade tries to turn on you. To sharpen put the blade in a vise and use a hand grinder and basically follow how it looks keeping the same pitch that is there and the cutting edge to look kinda like the edge of a knife but don't sharpen the back side of the blade just try to clean up any burrs on the back edge by useing a wire wheel on a bench grinder. Also while sharpening don't push to hard or stay in one spot so that you don't leave bluing on the blade (it cuases week spotson the cutting edge)

Chipper Maintenance

Maintenance (excluding the power plant) Your primary maintenance concern with chippers and shredders is their knives. You can re-sharpen chipper knives, whereas you can reverse shredder flail-type knives when dull but you can not re-sharpen them. You must sharpen chipper knives with special sharpening equipment because they are made of high-carbon steel. Maintaining sharp knives can lengthen their life and the life of the machine by keeping power requirements low. An over-dulled or chipped chipper knife will need extensive sharpening, which will remove a large portion of the blade. This obviously will shorten its life. As soon as a blade is slightly dull, you should sharpen it to minimize the amount of blade-material that you remove. All knives need sharpening at the same time to keep them in balance-even if only one is worn or chipped. Also, you must use matched sets to keep the knife the same distance from the anvil for proper chipping and feeding. After removing the knives, clean the area where they are fastened with a wire brush to make sure they will align correctly. Be sure to torque the knife bolts to their proper specifications. You will need to examine the anvil and be sure it maintains a good, square edge. Occasionally, you may need to remove and sharpen it.
