If you are talking about no picture on the Monitor, plug in a different one and see if that don't solve the problem.

I have an Emachines ET1161-07 which freezes at the E logo. the only way to even reach the BIOs is to remove and replace the CMOS battery; doing this only works once and then the computer freez

This might be a dodgy stick of memory or memory slot. If you have more than 1 stick of memory, see what happens if you just use variations of just 1. Maybe try disonnecting all drives except the one you boot from. And, not sure exactly what you mean by works once and how far it gets after removing the CMOS battery. But does it get far enough to boot from a cd? If it does, try getting hold of a AVG rescue disk this will run a pre-boot virus check which may clear the problem if you're lucky. Obviously you would have to use a friend's machine to burn the disk. Unlikely, but could be a failing powers supply. Borrow one and try it instead. Otherwise, it really sounds like a terminal motherboard issue to me. Godd luck.

I reseated my ram and now I have no video output?

There is no single answer for u. It can be many causes. Mabe be the Ram is defective or it not inserted properly into the slot. Also the slot may be defective. Try another ram into another slot. If not solved then it may be a motherboard or processor issue. Re-install the processor with heatsink compound. If not solved then it is sure that motherboard is defective. The best way to sort out the problem is using a POST Card (Buy now & Read POST Card manual before use it).

My emachine T2958 would not boot. the fans run but no bois nothing. i realise on the mother board alight is on by the letter F.Is it the motherboard ? help please

A good way to tell is disconnect your hard drive's, & CD/DVD ROM's power & data cable. Try to boot.

If you get the same results then you can try & remove any PCI cards from the board, remove your ram stick. Try to boot. If you get an error beep because you are missing ram than this is good.

Replace 1 ram stick back into your motherboard & try again. If it boots then you know the other stick is bad.

If removing all the non-essentials from your motherboard doesn't work then all you have left are the motherboard & power supply. A simply power supply tester or spare power supply will tell you if it is your board or not.

I have an Emachines W3609 desktop with windows vista. One day i powered it on and the fan ran hard and i got three beeps and no display in the monitor. I went into the case removed the ram and found 1 ram...

i seem the power supply gone bad, it is hard to say what is the problem actually, you need to check all of your devices(processor, ram, video card, motherboard and power supply) to some other system one by one for confirmation.

Running a 1 gig stick and a 512mb stick, system only shows 896mb, apparently not recognizing all of the ram installed?

I assume that you've booted the computer with _ONLY_ the 512MB stick installed, and that the computer recognized it (reporting either 512MB or 384MB), i.e., the 512MB RAM is not "defective".

Hmm. 1024 minus 896 is 128.
So, the "integrated-into-the-motherboard" video-card is "stealing" 128MB of your RAM, to be used strictly for "video" purposes, leaving 896MB for Windows to use.

Now, about the "missing" 512MB of RAM.

1. If you have four slots for RAM, and they are physically arranged into two pairs of two slots, rather than four equally-spaced slots, your motherboard is capable of "dual-channel" mode. But, since your two sticks of RAM are not "matched" (size, speed), you _MUST_ insert both sticks into _ADJACENT_ slots (not slots 1/3, nor slots 2/4), in order to run your RAM in "single-channel" mode.

2. If you have two slots for RAM, interchange the two sticks, to see if that makes a difference.

My emachine T6216 starts up with fan on high speed but that's it; no screen nothing. I have reseated RAM and cleaned. I swapped out the power supply and it was the same. I added a video card and still...

E-machines won't start
is there an orange light on the on/off button? if there is that means *********** board just went bad, check the capacitors. Capacitors are an inexpensive little component on a PC motherboard, but they can be a costly headache for manufacturers when a whole bunch of them go bad
you can not always detect them but check and see common in a few dell models but the high speed on the fan tells me that's what it is

PC will not power up. No fans, lights, anything.

Have you tried a different power cord? (longshot, I know, but it is one of the variables that you don't mention)

Have you tried a different A/C outlet?

Hey iluvyakatu

Does your emachine has inbuild video card or AGP or PCI card? if one it has AGP or PCI card try to reseat it. If it is inbuild try to use AGP card or PCI card and see what happen. Also try to check whether you have an inbuild video and AGP or PCI both installed, if you have both try to use one of them.

good luck

Emachines 1900+ gets power to the monitor and computer but wont boot

Buy a dianostics card, and find out if its the RAM, CPU, OR Motherboard. (sounds like a ram or CPU problem though) if you have more than one stick of ram in the system, take one out, and power it up, if still not response, to the other stick out, and put the stick you took out the first time, and put it back in.
