Question about Bodum GRANOS (3020-16US) Espresso Machine

Leaky Bodum Granos with a faulty steam valve switch

Hey I too have a Bodum Granos with a faulty ( leaking) steam valve. I need to know where to source this part. Understand one of your contributors has sourced a metal replacement of the original plastic part. Seems to be a common problem as my service person has 3 other Bodum Granos machines with the same issue. May be a bulk order beckons!

SOURCE: I'm having problems with my

I had a similar problem and had a techo fix it.  He didn't charge - because the solution was real easy. Basically you have a blocked filter. The filter is at the base of the rear column. You need to unscrew the back plate on the column leading up to the head. Once unscrewed you'll find the filter somewhere at the base end. Remove filter wash, reinstall and screw the thing together. Should now run ok. Cheers

SOURCE: All the lamps on the Granos flashes - what does it

Clean it with CLR. I had to turn the steam on and plug and unplug it to get it to work for just a few seconds but that was enough to get some of the CLR into the system. I let it sit overnight and then the next day it would work for 10 - 15 seconds at a time. Finally the more CLR I got into the system the better it worked. I regularly used a coffee maker cleaner but the CLR seemed to break up whatever was in there.

Did you find an answer for this? mine is brand new and leaks from the base. I know its been on the shelf at the shop for 3 years, so I'm expecting its a leaky seal somewhere.

When operating, water leaks from the edge of the filter holder. Could there be leakages within the water pump system enclosed within the housing? Are there any tools suitable to remove the warming plate?...

Hi had the same problem. Probably it is the steam/hot water valve that leaks. I just bypassed it since you can not find it anymore & is from plastick, not reparable at all. Open top cover, see if at the right, where the handle to choose steam is the plastic valve is leaking or if it is covered with white powder (residu of calc of the vapourated water). If so this is the problem. Disconnect at te bottem of the valve the tube coming from the heater. (untighten the screw, pull tube out the hole, it is a sort of press fitting with a rubber ring) . Do the same with the connection on top of the heating blok and fit the first disconnected tube in it. No leak anymore. You can not have heated water or steam anymore. But coffee works again. Best is also to fix the staem handle into the neutral position, or disconnect the wires on the switches an put them permanently in the neutral status. (one switch is closed, the other is open. So nobody can trigger the steam anymore. Will not be ok since tubing is changed. Succes.

Pump activates put coffee does not drip instead it water comes out the top of the pod handle

I had the exact same problem about a year ago. I bought a replacement valve from Bodum here in Denmark, where I live.
The cracked valve was made out of some sort of plastic, but the new one I got was cast in metal.
The machine has been working perfectly since.

Bodum Granos 3020 Espressoo Machine

Last year I stripped the machine and found the blockage in a diverter valve. This device switches between the coffee making head or the steamer. I had a blockage in the diverter causing the solenoid to lock in the coffee position that was also blocked. I flushed the system out with Oust cleaner.(very quick and effective) I then reassembled the machine and put sachet of oust with four times as much of filtered water. Then I switched the machine on and passed half the through the coffe head and steamer at full heat. Left for 10mins. then passing the rest through, cleaned with filtered water and away it went. Fixed!!! email gethudall@hotmail.com

Bodum Granos Espresso

This is not a fix but it may be a way to at least get an espresso without milk. I opened the panel on the back and removed the to wires at the top of the circut panel. They are both fixed to a plug so all you have to do is gently pull. This turned of the steam/water function and the the water came through the head as it is suppose to. I did not get all the parts with mine so if anyone tries this please post the outcome. Remember to unplug the machine before you open the back. I will post the real fix if I figure it out.
