PLEASE DO NOT RETRACT IT BACK manually doing so ,will DAMAGE more the unit ,what you should do is plug the Video Camera AC plug and press the EJECT BUTTON , OR TRY turn in ON & OFF , TO SEE if it works.....

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-PC100 that is now flashing an error code C:31:23 in the display when I try to play back the DV cassette in the video camera. Please advise what this code means and if the footage...

  1. Remove the battery or disconnect the AC power adapter for 60 seconds.
  2. Insert the battery or reconnect the AC adapter.
  3. Turn on the camcorder.
  4. If the error message appears, service may be required.
If your camcorder still shows the same error code, then you'll have to send in your camcorder for service.

Try playing the dv casette on another player, it should be fine.

Am unable to get tape in VCR/combo

sir,
If you unplugged it with a tape inside that procedure has probably messed up the internal cpu or integrated circuit that controls the functions of the set.

So, it must be reset and restored to its factory settings. To do this merely unplug the power cord and leave it unplugged for at least 4 hours. It takes this long to totally discharge all the memory cells inside the unit. Then power it up again and check it out.

After the reset above if it still does not eject the tape there may be a mechanical problem. For this there are all sorts of things you can try. I refer you to www.fixer.com which has a database of things you can do to get a stuck tape out and get the tape mechanism working again.

From this site, for example, you will find a section on Sylvania vcrs that has suggestions on removing a tape. You can find it at:

Thank You

Will not load tape

Hello yellowwestie,

You may have a bad tape position sensor assembly (LED and photo transistor). It's purpose is to detect where the tape is in the loading process, and if the tape is not in the proper place at the proper time the tape is returned to the cassette and the cassette is ejected. This sounds like what you are talking about. I would suggest getting a schematic and checking the bias voltages (with a multimeter) on the tape position sensor assembly. If the sensor is bad replace it, if it is not check the tape sensor assembly circuitry.

I hope this helps

Thank you,
