I had a problem whereby, for no known reason, I started my car one morning, the radio came on for a split second and displayed PANEL and was from thereon silenced. Although I could get as far as 10SAFE by following the instructions in the manual, I could not get any further.

This worked for me...

You will need a 2mm allan key and a set of keys/prongs to remove the cdr 500 unit.

1. Switch off the cdr 500
2. Switch off the inginition
3. Remove the 4 grubs screws in the unit facia
4. Insert the removal keys/prongs and extract the unit from the console/dash
5. While you have it out check the fuse and the connectors at the rear of the unit
6. Re-insert the radio ensuring it locks in position
7.Turn on the iginition
8. While holding down the [AS] key turn the cdr 500 on
9. Keep holding the [AS] button until you hear a beep
10. CODE ____ is now displayed
11. Enter the security code
11. Confirm the security code

All working again.

Kenwood I am afraid ask you to activate a code of your choice after purchase. The code you or the original keeper entered is NOT retrievable unless noted somewhere in your manual. This means the unit has to be taken/sent to a dealer for a "bench" re-coding

I just bought a 1994 bmw. I need a code to access my kenwood kdc-x679 excelon player. The previous owner doesn't know the code,

You can enter a 4-digit security code which must be used when the unit is removed from the vehicle, or the constant power source is disconnected from the unit. When constant power is restored to the unit, the security code must be entered before the unit becomes operational.
If the code is lost or forgotten I am afraid the unit has to go to a Kenwood dealer for re-coding.

Is there anyway to recover lost Mcintosh MX-406 car cd player deck security code.

yes..... you can shove two to three fingers in your ***, or your entire fist, what ever you perfer most, then begin to milk your prostate untill you explode, but you need to count how many pumps it took you to ***! That will be your first number, then continue the process for the next three digets for your code.

93 honda accord - The Battery was disconnected

Hi; I do not believe the need the s/n from the radio. If you can contact the dealer where you baught the car new, they will have the code in their sevice department records. Just tell them the VIN for the car and they should give it to you free. When you get it it is 5 digits in length. Press and hold the code button untill you here a beep. Release the 'code' ( the am/fm ) button and enter the code numbers using the preset buttons as the numbers (1-5or else 6).

Don'let them charge you for giving you the code.

After I pulled the old CD player out of my car the wires end plug dosnt match up to my new Pioneer DEH-11E. Is there a way to make it work or should I take it back.

Hello al_will00,

The color coding of the wires from aftermarket equipment will not match up with vehicle color codes. The new player will work OK when you have matched up the wiring by function. There's 2 ways to do it: 1) Find the color coding of your vehicle wiring and splice/tap into the existing harness; 2) Purchase an aftermarket wiring harness that plug in directly.

The 2nd option is best. It allows you to make all of the connections (usually color for color) sitting at a table or workbench insted of from behind the poorly lighted dash. It also allow you to reinstall the OEM radio if you ever decide to do so. Splicing or tapping will make it more difficult.

I'd visit one of the online retailer like or to purchase a wiring harness. You can determine the correct model number from various sources, including the manufacturer, such as Metra here. Just enter your vehicle make, model and year information to see a list that the vehicle.

Hope this helps.

Security Code is not accepted.
The code number is incorrect. Please enter code which is printed on your radio passport.
First coding doesn't function.
The code was not entered immediately after first start-up. Put the equipment back into the original operating conditions by pressing RESET key. Then enter the code which is printed on your radio passport.

There are a number of ways to "RESET" (which may or may not solve the problem - proceed at your own risk).
From a G search on the subject...
Your radio will require one of the following procedures.
Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.
Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".
Then using your remote enter your code.
Type 3
Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.
Enter your number from the remote control unit. Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)
* Press numeric key “5” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “7” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
The security is canceled and the set enters the TUNER mode!
when finish all the procedure, is necessary to press "TRACK UP BUTTON" for 3 seconds.. and youre done.
