Hi,
This is a typical symptom of a lid switch problem. If you open and close the lid, you should hear a "clicking" sound as the lid switch is activated. If you do not hear the switch, check to make sure the lid strike in still intact. This is a small plastic piece mounted on the lid that pushes down on the switch through a slot on the wash tub opening on the right hand side. If this piece breaks off, it will give the same symptoms of a broken lid switch. Next, check the two mounting screws on the right side of the wash tub opening to make sure they are tight. These are the mounting screws for the lid switch. Sometimes they come loose and the switch does not make proper contact. If you attempt all these preliminaries, and the switch still does not seem to be working properly, replace it. A replacement can be found at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and the part will be located under the "Top and Cabinet" heading as item number 11 (Part number 3949238).

Thank you !!

Hi there,

Well first of all you can check, if your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out.
To remove the cloth from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port.
Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do and you may need special tools.
If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump. Please reply for further help or information......

Good Luck!!

Thanks

The washer cycle turns to drain -and then it shuts off. It does not drain at all. I took off the drain hose from the washer to the wall and checked it, and it is not clogged. Can you tell me about the switch on the lid that triggers something?

Washer will not drain totally when in final rinse mode.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Washer not draining completely problem usually occurs due to clogged/blocked drain hose or the drain pump not working. First try to clean the drain hose and drain pump filter for any clogs, then check drain pump operation. If the problem returns after cleaning then it is the drain pump that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

SOAP NOT RINSING OUT OF FINAL RINSE. CHECKED DRAIN NO OVER FLOW OF WATER THIS IS A WHIRLPOOL NEW WASHER

sounds like a case of over soaping especially if your water is soft. this is usually a front loader problem but..
Epsom salts added to the final rinse usually does the trick as it breaks down the oxygen loaded foam.
Very common problem in Launderettes.

Never completes its program cycle. stops on final rinse before spin. clothes are sodden and drum has lots of water in it

you have a blockage in the pump filter or the hoses, or a faulty pump.
put washer on drain only to see if the washer drains ok.
The other thing it could be is worn carbons on motor

Won't complete cycle, stops at rinse. and can't get hot water.

Are you on well water? turn off the cold water to the washer and clean the screen filter out. do not leave filter out.
the machine probably has a cold only final rinse so it won't work properly.

Clothes still wet after final spin

Possible timer or drain problems.. ok.. when your washer is in rise.. before it goes into final spin.. it stop agitating, then drain water for about a minute or two.. listen to see if stop drain for a sec, then began to spin... when it come to draining.. make sure that you hear all the water flow out of your washer.. sometimes when you have a slow drain.. that can do it too.. but the first possible is likely.. good luck
