You're fortunate the disc ejects. Many slot-loading DVD drives will get these mini discs stuck in them. You either need an external tray type DVD drive (some are $50 or less) or borrow a computer a tray type DVD drive with either the possibility of copying the data to the hard drive and then to a full size DVD (or dual optical drives (only one needs to be a writer) to copy from one to another). Check the specs for mini-disc (8 cm) support.

I wish that I could be of more help.

How do I eject a disk from my dell model 1737 studio lap top(window vista) . It made noise are clicking sound when it went in.

Hello Reg,

The CD/DVD rom is tray type then use a pin to eject the tray. There is small hole in front of tray plate.

Insert the pin in the small home and press smoothly and the tray will eject .

If the CD/DVD rom is different type then use long steel V shape clip to pull the disc.

Purchased a Gear Head webcam WC745blu 1.3mp, it came with a mini disk to install software. I have a standard cd-rom for standard size disks so I cannot install drivers with this disk. The website does not...

Well the disk actually works on most standard CD-ROMS. paper_bag.jpg If its cd-rom that is used in laptops (extremely thin) it should also work but you can always find a computer with one of these trays and then copy the contents.

My cd rom tray will not eject and the light is

have you manually tried to eject the disc tray? There's a little hole on there somewhere, stick an unbent paperclip or safety pin in it and push until the tray starts to come out, then pull the tray out with your fingers.

Once you've done that, push the button to allow the tray to automatically retract.

I want to eject cd from cd rom apple system imac

To eject a CD/DVD that is not recognized by your computer, boot up while holding down the eject button on your keyboard, and continue to hold down eject until the disk ejects.

If this does not work, hold down your mouse button while booting up in the same way.

If neither of these work, open Terminal and type in the following:

drutil tray eject

If your disc does still not eject, your optical drive likely needs repair.

I've just accidently inserted a dvd mini disc into my MacBook Pro. The mac is not acknowledging any disc and none of my eject mechanisms are working to eject this mini disc. What can I do to get it out of...

there should be a small hole on the disk drive. with a paper clip push this in the hole and push. this should eject tray enough to pull it out the rest of the way.

Now you mentioned that you used the drutil tray open command- if that is correct, then for your Mac Mini, that will not work, because that command is for drives with trays only.

In your case, you have slot drive in your Mac Mini so try the command line that I have provided below. It is just a slight modification from what you stated you tried.

-EJECTING DISC USING TERMINAL-

From your Desktop:

•Click anywhere on a blank space on your desktop. Now you should see Finder listed near the Apple menu icon.

• From the Finder menu, click on Go, then Utilities from the
drop-down menu. This will take you to your Utilities folder.

• Locate and open the Terminal application.

• At prompt, type: drutil eject and press the Return key on your keyboard

(NOTE: If you have a CD/DVD drive with a tray, type: drutil tray open press the Return key on your keyboard).

If that procedure with Terminal does not work, there are two applications that you can try:
Disk Utility- You open the application, select the affected disc or the optical drive in the left sidebar window. Then select eject from the top of the Disk Utility menu. See if that work.

iTunes- Simply open the application, and select the eject icon at the bottom of the window.

Last but not least, I did notice you did not mention that you try this procedure:

Reboot your Mac Mini.
As the Mac Mini boots up, hold down all mouse buttons and keep holding them down until (hopefully) the cd ejects.
I am not sure if you have done all of these processes for ejecting your disc, but again these steps were not mentioned in your initial inquiry.

Let me know if these additional steps have helped or if they are in fact redundant.

Disk won't eject on my iMac

Ok, I assume you have hit the eject button on the keyboard. Try dragging the CD icon on the desktop to the trash can. If that doesn't work, Shut down the computer and start up while holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared. Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism. Another option is to open Disk Utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button. Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder. Another option is to Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray. Lastly if your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button. One of these should work.

CDs get stuck in the slot of my mac mini---3 years old.

Ok, let's go through the options in case you have missed one. Command E, Open Finder and click eject button next too it's name, dragging the item to trash, press F12, or hitting eject on the keyboard. If none of those work make sure the drive is not just busy. Sometimes you have to wait a few seconds even after stopping the application. You can use Disk Utility in Applications/Utilities to eject a CD. Open Terminal and type drutil tray eject If that fails, in Terminal type drutil list and then look at the list and find the drive. Tyoe drutil tray eject 1 The 1 should be replace with whatever drive # you found in the list.

DVD/CD ROM does not open

There should be a small hole on the front panel of the DVD-ROM. Take a paper clip and insert it into the hole and push to open the tray. If the DVD-ROM tray continues to malfunction, you'll need to replace it. DVD-ROMS run anywhere from $25.00 to $75.00.
