Bathroom sink single handle danze faucet. I removed set screw, but the handle won't come off. How hard can I pull?

Alot of variables there. If it's really old you must be extremely gentle. I have had them crumble into pieces in my hand. If it doesn't appear corroded around the edges and is in good shape, you should rock or pry gently with a non marring tool (putty knife covered by rag) alternating sides to break it loose. A penetrating oil like PB blaster can be used if you can let it sit for a day. Just straight pulling is not wise. Tapping (not pounding) can be helpful. You are just trying to break the bond between surfaces so the vibration of lots of light tapping will sometimes do it.

I have a single handle Moen shower faucet. Pull to turn on. Turn clockwise for cold. Turn counterclockwise for hot. It does not leak but it is hard as hell to pull out when I turn it on. The house was...

If it is hard to pull out or push in the valve then you will need to replace it. On moen valves you can not rebuild the cartridge you can only replace them. A new cartridge will cost you around 15 to 20 dollars.

Also I would tack the cartridge with you when you gao and buy it because they make 2 different ones.

Good Luck and please rate 4 thumbs up for the free answer

I'm trying to replace my faucet but i can't get it undone or off the sink. I've unhooked all the piping but cannot get the main faucet component undone from underneath the sink.

Single handle usually have a big brass bracket looking thing, but really all it is ,Is a big washer ,and a 3/8 in nut on a long thread, they might have silicone the faucet down also,so you will need to use a sharp razor blade, some can be really tough.I had one that I needed a small hammer and another set of hands to help me pry this off

Moen single stem bathroom basin tap (25 years old). Trying to remove cartridge to grease it or replace it. Have removed handle and retaining clip. Pulled hard but can't shift it. Don't want to break...

You are on the right track. You have to use some force when pulling the stem from the faucet. Your replacement cartridge should have a little black or whit cap. that is inserted on top of the cartridge and by turning the cap will help loosen the whole cartridge

I have Delta Series 1400 Solid Handle and after taking the tension screw out I can't get the handle off. What do I need to do.

There is a set screw under the handle. You will need an allen wrench (hex head) to remove the set screw. Once you remove the set screw, use force to pull the handle away from the shower wall. If it feels stuck use some force alternating between pushing and pulling (rocking motion). I am including a picture in an exploded view so you can see how it assembles and disassembles for your convenience if you need it. Also if you need to replace any parts for the faucet, the part numbers are designated for easy replacement. I hope this helps and good luck!

Faucet hard to pull on and push off

YOU ARE LUCKY, OLD FAUCETS ARE LIKE CLASSIC CARS, INDESTRUCTIBLE. YOUR INNER CARTRIDGE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR CLEANED. IN MY EXPERIENCE IF YOU'RE GOING TO GO THROUGH THE TROUBLE TO CLEAN IT YOU MIGHT AS WELL REPLACE IT, BECAUSE MORE TIMES THAN NOT AFTER YOU CLEAN IT, IT WILL START LEAKING. START BY TURNING OFF YOUR WATER AT THE METER, TURN THE FAUCET ON TO BLEED ANY PRESSURE AND VERIFY THAT THE WATER IS OFF. IF THIS IS THE CRYSTAL HANDLE DELTA I AM THINKING OF FOLLOW THESE STEPS: 1. REMOVE THE PLASTIC COVER PLATE IN THE CENTER OF THE HANDLE WITH A FLAT SCREWDRIVER. 2. REMOVE THE SCREW BENEATH THE BEFORE MENTIONED COVER. 3. REMOVE THE HANDLE. 4. REMOVE THE NUT BELOW THE BEFORE MENTIONED HANDLE. 5. REMOVE THE CARTRIDGE, SEATS, STEM AND REPLACE OR CLEAN. 6.FOLLOW THE BEFORE MENTIONED INSTRUCTIONS IN REVERSE MAKING SURE ALL SLOTS AND GROOVES LINE UP. TURN THE WATER BACK ON AND TURN ALL FAUCETS ON TO BLEED ANY AIR IN THE LINES.... GOOD LUCK

I have the single handle moen faucet that has the acrylic knob. This is the 4th time the knob has been replaced, haved decided to go with all metal assembly. Any reason why the acrylic cracks and breaks...

Monique, I really do not have the real answer to why the acryllic ones break but there are many factors that contribute to it such as torque placed on it at the connection point with the stem and repeatred pushing and pulling on the handle due to normal use. The handles also contain an oil base in them and when that oil dissipates the handle becomes more brittle and less flexible. The other reason is simple physics. The force placed on the handle is all focused at the point where the stem contacts the handle and the screw attaches it to the stem.

As for installing your new faucet the only suggestion i would make is to make sure to use a thread sealant like Rectorseal. It is a paste like substance that comes in a can with a brush attached to the inside of the lid - you do not need alot of this placed on the thread just a thin coat as the directions imply or you will have a mess. Also if you have metal supply lines you may need new ones as the length needed may have bgecome greater. I recommend using the gray poly supplies as they are easy to cut to length.
Other than that it is a real simple process. Just remember the position you want the new pull up handle to be at to stop the sink as you may have it in a position that will not allow total closure.
Thanks for using Fix Ya and good luck.
