Still no luck. I downloaded the driver you suggested, but because

"Add Printer" finds one in "Windows Update" I cannot find a way

to insert the "Windows Update" (which are probably the same

Interesting pieces taken from forums, etc.

My old Epson Stylus Color 600 was working fine with Vista (and XP before that). Now it won't print - anything sent to the printer just sits in the queue saying "printing - error".

I have connected my printer via USB in Windows 7, but the hardware Wizard fails to install the built-in Windows 7 driver. What should I do? (Since then I believe Windows 7 has been updated to include his driver and mine in "Windows Update".

    Follow these steps:
    1. Click and select Devices and Printers.
    2. Right-click your printer and select Printer Properties.
    3. Click the Ports tab.
    4. Uncheck the box for the LPT1 port and select the
    appropriate USB port.

Which sounds like a winner, but as described, there is no ports
tab there. Also, what is an appropriate USB Port?

Parallel ports LPT 1 Epson Stylus ...
LPT 2 Epson Stylus ... (I was trying anything)

My laptop has 4 USB ports listed as:
    File: print to file
    USB001: virtual printer port
    USB002: virtual printer port
    (Lexmark 2600 Series I have)
    Fax Lexmark Fax

The OS says I cannot delete any of the ports (I think all)
but has an add port button.

I think my solution might be to clean up the parallel ports
and somehow change USB002 to Epson Stylus Color

Thank you for your time and effort.

The Epson works fairly well with XP. It is to be connected to
a parallel port, usually LPT1
using an IEEE certified parallel printer cable. The computer BIOS
setting is best set for standard parallel port, SPP, bi-directional port
or similar. If possible, do not set it to ECP or EPP or ECP & EPP.

The only native driver for the printer is on the Windows CP CD. Install
using the Add Printer wizard.

The Epson LQ-860 drivers, and a few others, can be used. Using these
drivers, you will discover that the printer actually has some resident
fonts (in printer ROM) that are not accessible from the Stylus
driver. However, with this driver, graphics printing quality is

Windows 9x drivers _cannot be used_.

Epson has not released a printer driver for Win 7 and this printer.

My best guess at this point is that Epson has chosen to stop any additional driver development for this model printer.

Need what type of printer cable to fix to the compaq laptop from Epson Stylus C86 so i can print from laptop

You can use USB or Parallel according to the user guide. Most laptops made recently wont have a parallel port and the cables are harder to find so I recommend USB.

You pretty much said it when you mentioned "Other than buying the cable in the first place" I have never successfully used a USB to parallel converter cable on any system. My suggestion, asisde from getting a true USB printer, is a parallel port card

Uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the driver is a veriable solution, please try it.

I'm surprised that Epson does not have an LA (Latin America) center.

Hook Up possible for EPSON Stylus 880 to new computer w/USB ?

There is no conversion cable that you can use with parallel connector since USB transfers data in Serial mode and the parallel cable handles data in Parallel mode.

Window vista

You first need to get a Parallel Printer to USB cable. Once you have that, in Vista, click add a printer, do the windows update, and Epson Stylus Color 1520 should appear. Now you need to make sure that the port being used is the Virtual USB Printing Port, for example USB001....and there you have it...
