I recently purchased an ECS A770M-A from www.newegg.com. When I built my computer and installed Windows XP, I started installing the drivers that came with my motherboard. When the sound driver was installing "Error 0001" popped up and said "Installation Failed". How can I fix the problem?

- Thank you very much. I downloaded the sound driver again from the website and everything worked out fine.
-   I reinstalled the driver and still doesn't work. I have Windows XP with SP3, have tried reseting the CMOS with the jumper setting and downloading and installing the driver from the website, nothing works. Help please.-   nicorivas
Hi Lyubomir, there are a few things I'd like you to check. It's always suggested to clear the cmos/bios after purchasing a new board. The Mfg, make changes in the bios & they do not clear the bios when they finish. So please reset your cmos/bios jumper pg. 9, in your manual. Boot system & enter bios. Go over your settings & change as needed. When you come to Plug & Play OS choose No. This allows the bios to place IRQ's instead of windows. Also make sure your Onboard AUDIO Function is set to, (Enabled). When fiished save & exit bios. Double check pg. 43 for information spec's for the HD audio driver.
Try installing sound software again. If it still fails or barks the same error message try installing through device manager & point windows to the correct driver folder & OS located on your ESC driver CD. If it still fails. Run windows update untill there are no updates left for software or hardware.

My computer was in sleep mode when a kitchen appliance caused the house earth leakage to trip. Result - mother board dead - no LED on, no fan, nothing. Luckily, I had bought a spare board when buying the computer, so in no time had it up and running. A close inspection shows no obvious fault. Question: Is it possible to diagnose the problem with the board removed and if so, can it be repaired so I can still have a spare?
