Question about Epson Office Equipment & Supplies
My son is having problems getting results from the Epson R2400.
First off this is a brand new printer and he is trying to produce film positives for the use in screen printing. He has had poor results in getting an absolute black image by just doing straight prints from the installed epson inks. was The image has horizontal lines and is grey which is of no use for the screen process.
He has now installed 'FastRip' which is a specalised programme for producing black film positives. Also the use of 'fastInk'. This is a black cartridge which sits in the black cartridge slot and tricks the printer into thinking it is printing four times to produce a black image. As instructed he was trying to clean the Epson ink by purging with a 'FastInk' purge cartridge before using the FastInk.
The purge cartridge cleans the ink out and you can tell it has done this as the ink will turn pink, you then put in the new FastInk black. Her lies the problem. The purge cartridge did not print and eventually the ink faded away to nothing. He has been advised by FastRip support to do many head cleans and has gone through a whole set of ink cartridges doing so. He has then been advised to clean out the head cleaning sponge as there may be too much ink. (I have been advised by an Epson representative that this would not be the case with one complete set of ink cartridges, and that we should stay well away from this sort of self maintenance)
As stated this is a new printer and he has had no results thus far.
I am hoping you might be able to help with this tricky set up. I realise by using a third party product we are voiding any Epson warrantee but this printer seems to be used by many screen printers for this purpose and that Fastrip seems like the preferred industry product.
Midwest screen and supply will have the printers and the films for screen printing, it's the company i go through and i've had no problems in the past 14 years of ordering from them
