Question about Toshiba Satellite P205-S7476 Notebook

Open Question

I kept getting blue screens after downloading a progra. i deleted the program while in safe mode hoping to resolve the issue. It got worse i couldn't even get in safe mode! so i finally broke out the system restore discs for the p205 s7476. Everything seemed cool until it couldn't read a file; it then shut down and ejected the cd! totally freaked out at this point i just decided to use the erase function on the cd which seemed to work. Only problem it won't reinstall anything now. Every time i try i get error messages!

SOURCE: Recovery Disc will not work

That's terrible. The right soution should be to try Ashampoo Uninstaller or similar software that gets off EVERY BIT of unwanted software. Use function "Install new applications". It asks for setup.exe, install.exe or similar executable file, that runs Antivirus 360 installer. Point to it. After all the installations completes, "Ashampoo Uninstaller" logs the installation. Now uninstall the unwanted program using "Uninstall logged programs". That's it!
If you really damaged your operating system, do buckup of your important data and reinstall OS

I can't vouch for the vendor but they have your part in stock for $304.

You can always use that part number to do a more thorough search though...

If you want to fix blue screen problems yourself I recommend using a program from spotmau. They have software you can boot from which will fix most startup problems. I also recommend booting in safe mode with networking first and scanning your PC with Avira antivirus. Or you could go the easy way and hire someone locally which should fix your problem for no more than $50. Good site to check out

Blue screen error tried to start in safe mode now wont come on

This is most likely the power supply. It could be some other things but the power supply is the cheapest thing to try unless you have the right stuff to test everything. In reality, it was nothing that you did. The uninstall of the program did not cause this. Also you should check the unit to be sure that it is clean. Dust can build up inside and cause over heating.

Won't boot in safe mode

Starting an IBM Thinkpad T43 in safe mode allows you to troubleshoot technical issues that you otherwise couldn't. Often when a system has a virus or other type of malicious program, safe mode is the only way to locate and delete the problem. In safe mode, only the computer's essential programs are enabled, and only the files necessary to running the system are in use. Learn how to start an IBM Thinkpad T43 in safe mode using a few fairly easy steps.

1.Close all programs and restart the IBM Thinkpad T43.

2.Press "F8" repeatedly after the IBM logo appears, but before the operating system logo appears. If the "F8" key doesn't work, restart the computer and try pressing the "F11" key repeatedly.

3.Press the "down arrow" key to select "Safe Mode."

4.Press the "Enter" key. The computer will boot up in safe mode.

Power up issue resolved, A8N- SLI booted up in the main screen of BIOS, after entering the delete key nothing would happen. Tried numerous times, retarting still nothing. Cleared the cmos, nothing, tried...

restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option
hope this helps you

I have two antivirus programs, avast and avira, I want to completely remove avira but whenever i click it, the CCPLG.XML: unable to find file (c:progra-1aviraantivi-1ccplg.xml). appears.. I also cant find...

I would suggest an uninstaller program like the Revo Uninstaller, which can be downloaded from This is good for removing the remains of a program that hasn't uninstalled properly.

See if it helps with your problem.

Evil anti-virus or virus?

Boot the laptop to safe mode and perform system restore to the earlier point. I am sure this will resolve your issue. I suggest you to do not download and install 2 anti virus software in one computer that will messup the computer as well. Thank you

Did you recently delete or uninstall a program? The startup folder may be looking for the key in your registry, which may lead to a now-unused file extension.

The "easy" fix (so as not to mess directly with the registry manually), go to, download "cccleaner", and run it's registry component (scan for issues and fix). Ccleaner is non-spyware, non-ad-ware and is very efficient in catching most "leftovers" in the registry (also is beautiful for cleaning out your cache, temp files, and temp internet with secure file shredder. And (drum roll) it's free :)

Hope this helps!

PS -- IF... by chance, you didn't uninstall anything, and haven't deleted any program recently, you MAY want to run your antivirus software (full scan). I would suggest rebooting in safe mode, downloading the latest definitions, and running a full scan)... good luck! -- Roonie

Emac stalls on the OS X start-up

Start here...   Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck  Mac OS X: How to start up in single-user or verbose mode  If that doesn't help, try booting into Safe Mode and see what happens, if it comes up hopefully another restart may solve, if not, you can at least use this as a starting point to try and resolve. Safe Mode will allow you to get around, surf, etc...   What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?   Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode
If Safe Mode comes up alright, I would install AppleJack, excellent troubleshooting article can be found here... Troubleshooting Tools: AppleJack  Another excellent free tool for performing maintenance is Onyx (be sure to download the right version for your system). Install the package, then run it, it will check your drive and the structure, after this, click on the automation tab and check on everything for Maintenance, Clear Cache, Cleaning, and check on Reset -> LaunchServices database and Mail's Envelope Index. When it completes, restart. Repeat any time something seems flaky, if not try to run at least once a month.
