Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

1 Answer

Tried to print Paint Shop Pro image that I cropped, edited and added text to. Printer reads "Print job too complex" and now it is frozen. Can't get anything else to print, nevermind the original document.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Manually turn off the printer and then turn off the computer. Unplug the printer and wait 2 minutes. Plug the printer back in. Turn the computer back on. Im assuming your using Windows XP. Goto Start>Programs>Printers&Faxes>Double click on your printer>highlight any jobs still on the list and press delete.

Now about what caused this error in the first place. I looked at the specs of your printer and you need to make sure that the size of the image that you cropped is within the printer capabilities. Look at the link I attached and scroll down and compare the sizes they list to the sizes you are using.

Good Luck!

Hope this helped!

  • If the printer supports expandable memory, you can install additional memory in the form of a DIMM. Check the printer's User Guide to see if it supports additional memory.
  • Break complex print jobs into smaller jobs that contain fewer pages.
  • If the printer is an MFP, delete stored faxes to increase available memory. Go to this document for instructions: HP LaserJet Pro MFP - Delete faxes from memory (ID: emr_na-c03264743)
  • Power cycle the printer to delete stored fonts or macros. It is possible to download fonts or macros in a way that power cycling the printer will not delete them; see Appendix A - Memory Allocation.
  • Changing some software and/or print driver settings might result in a less complex print job.
  • Use a different print driver. For example, a PostScript print driver will typically result in a more complex print file. If possible, try sending the file with a PCL6 or UPD printer driver.
  • Adobe PDF files can sometimes be very complex. Go to this document if printing PDF files is slow or resulting in memory out messages: HP LaserJet - Print job is slow or hangs in the print queue when printing Adobe PDF files (ID: emr_na-c04071740)
  • If the printer is connected via a network, try sending the file connected by USB cable only. This will eliminate possible network issues that are taking printer memory.
  • Appendix A
Memory Allocation Utilities or jobs that you download to the product sometimes include resources (for example, fonts, macros, or patterns). Resources that are internally marked as permanent remain in the product memory until you turn the product off.
Use the following guidelines if you use the page description language (PDL) ability to mark resources as permanent. For technical details, see an appropriate PDL reference for PCL or PS.
    • Mark resources as permanent only when it is absolutely necessary that they remain in memory while the product is turned on.
    • Send permanent resources to the product only at the beginning of a print job and not while the product is printing.
NOTE: Overusing permanent resources or downloading them while the product is printing might affect product performance or the ability to print complex pages.

On HP 5MP laserjet Printer, on printing a document, the message says: the printer requires more memory than is avaailable in this printer.what to do then?

You don't say what kind of a document you are trying to print. Did you try to print something else. Did it print?
Normally if you try and print a complex spread sheet you may get that warning. You have the option of adding more memory or making your print job less complex. Or printing to another printer.

Strange Printer Issue - HP Laserjet 2600n

The last time I checked, you cannot set up a local printer using a TCP/IP port. A local printer is physically connected to a computer via a parallel, serial (very old), or USB cable. If the printer is connected to a switch, hub, or router via an Ethernet cable, it is by definition a network printer and the driver install must reflect this. I don't understand why it is able to print out the test page after the install. If you open up Control Panel -> Printers and double-click on the HP Laserjet 2600n in there, it will bring up the local spooler for the printer. You may have a bunch of print jobs queued up in there that it cannot currently send to the printer. You may want to clear the queue first (cancel all print jobs). Let me know if you have problems clearing the queue & I can give you instructions on how to do that one too.

    Hp laserjet 2600n

Overview Though it's priced for the home-office budget, the HP Color LaserJet 2600n performs like a printer in a higher cost category. The result: powerful, networkable printing-plus high-impact, professional documents and marketing materials-without breaking the bank. Includes black, cyan, yellow, and magenta print cartridges.
    • Save space with the compact design that you can put anywhere, even on your desk
    • Give your brochures and flyers a competitive edge with HP's image-enhancing ImageREt 2400 color technology
    • Spend less time waiting around for documents; the first page prints in less than 20 seconds, even when the printer has been in Sleep mode
    • Process complex documents that have text, images and graphics with the powerful 264MHz processor and 16MB memory
    • Monitor the print status via the convenient front panel, on-screen LCD display
    • Replenish the paper less frequently, with the optional third tray (250 sheets), which brings the capacity to a total of 500 sheets
    • Stay on top of toner replacement with HP SureSupply, which sends alerts when a cartridge is low and helps you monitor its remaining life
