Question about Olevia LT32HVM 32 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

My TV is a 32in. LCD and it is 5 years old. Had no problems until now. I have it setup to a cable network and when watching it for 10 to sometimes 15 min. it turns off. If I take the white cable wire and put it into the TV it stays on. But once I put it back into the box it will shutdown again.

Hi,
If tv turns off only will cable box connection setup then cable box is need to be checked by hooking it with any other tv to check its performance. Usually cable box is source of video signal to tv and it should not turn off tv.
Use another cable box with your 32 inch lcd tv just to confirm that tv itself is fine and working good with other cable box.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

  • Thanks for the info.

I changed the cable box out 3 times and still the same thing.

Sorry should have said that in the first email.

If the TV is fine and plays on its own. What could be the problem.the cable box works on other TV's

    just not mine.

Could you give me the code for the remote on the olevia TV. I took out the battreys and it won't work now.

And when you change out the batterys will you have to put the code in again.

So when I put the code in where should the TV be as far as it being on and what ch. or setting.

Thank you so much for your time.

Baird tv has no picture but sound ok. picture lights up when turning on and off but then goes out.y

Hi Anon,
If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
If your TV, flatscreen, or monitor is more than 5 years old it is more like to have suffered a component failure.
Take it to a repair shop.

This sounds like what I managed to do to my screen, even though I knew better. Is there any chance you layed the screen face down at some time?

Even though you can still watch it OK, you probably have hairline fractures in the screen face (NOT the screen itself- be thankful for that- the cracks are in the screen coating). LCD screens are a very thin glass laminate with a thin protective glass-like coating. When they are laid flat (like I did to connect cables) if the screen bears any weight, microcracks develop on the front of the screen.

I am sorry to say that the effect is permanent.

TO: rdh041: I don't have the solution to you problem, but we have the exact same problem with our Sharp AQUOS 20" LC tv. Different model than yours, but same age and same perplexing issue. Several channels suddenly have no sound. If you've found a solution, would you please post it? I'll do the same. Thanks.

My JVC LT-42X579 42 in. LCD TV is only 13 MONTHS old and it suddenly won't turn on anymore. The blue power light comes on -as usual- but after 3 seconds, it will start blinking and it will remain that way...

I contact JVC and was told to first make sure your cable box or whatever you use to normally watch TV is powered on and is ready to work
He told me to unplug TV for 10 seconds at least. Then he had me press and hold down the "MENU and VOLUME DOWN (-)" buttons, at the same time for about 10 seconds. Then after 10 seconds of holding the 2 buttons down, he had me continue to hold the 2 buttons and press and let go of the power button. In other words after 10 seconds of holding down the volume down (-) and menu buttons, add the third button (power) and immediately let go of all 3 buttons, at the same time.
It worked for me instantlynd hopefully it works for you!!!

Why when I watch my new 32in sharp flat screen I seen lines ?

What you need to do is call sharp and make them aware of this problem. If you are under warranty, they will take care of it. If the model number of your tv has SB in it, you will have to take the unit to one of their authorized service centers in your area(which could be anywhere from 1-45 miles away from you). If you have a AQUOS unit, they will send someone to your home, either way, they will take care of it. give em a call, you have a service issue on your hands. good luck 2 u

Periodic tv screen blackouts

The problem is your cable box. I know you said you replaced it, but I work on TV's everyday and, sorry to say this but cable box HDMI outputs have serious issues, like no or intermittent sound and video. I have seen customers exchange their cable boxes 5 and 6 times and still have the problem. Your best bet is to use the component outputs of your cable box, visually you will not see a picture difference between component and HDMI when using a cable box. Your other solution is to get satellite; I have NEVER seen an HDMI issue with a satellite box
