Polaroid led tv ssdv311-11 sound but no picture, connected thru cable box

The TV electronics for the picture may have failed. Do you get any picture ever, like when you turn it on, or when you connect a DVD to it?
If you do then replace the scart cable with a good known brand. Cheap scart cables often do not have all the pins connected up.

Following the beginning of digital switchover, pressing the menu button only comes up with 'picture quality' and is unable to access 'installation'.

If your TV is not in Digital it won't give you the tuning option.
Select DTV from the on screen menu, (like scart 1 scart 2 etc). When you have found DTV select it and then press menu for tuning.
Hope that helps.

Cant tune tv in to use xbox 360

Check the scart lead by substitution, try another source of input, (game machine or dvd player,) it,s not uncommon to find bad solder joints on the print, where the scart socket is soldered to the mother board of the telly. there is no tuning as such for scart sockets, but you can get them in the wrong mode? S-video etc? but you should, in that case, get some sort of picture. Good luck! Nick

How do I tune my sanyo 768 E VHS recorder to the AV channel, so I can record from a freeview box, please?

Has the Sanyo got a scart socket? You would get a much better picture connecting the freeview box to that. You can also get a switching box so you can connect all the things up to your tv with just one scart lead to the switching box. See image below (from Amazon). The buttons switch between the scarts so you can record from scart to scart.

Sky+ DVD Recorder Tuning

You need to connect up the Sky+ to your recorder via scart. This will eliminate poor picture quality. The Sky box will be on ext1 on your recorder or something like that

With my sega megadrive11 system when tuned in only sound comes no picture

Hi Wisebear,

First It maybe your TV not tuning in properly.
to try this go to your TVs Tuning menu and select manual tuning and fine tune around the sound and see if this helps...

second it may be the lead (worn wire) and not enough signal getting through, so you need a new cable

you may just want to upgrade to a scart lead
www.retro-cache.com
sells the scart lead for Megadrive 2's and soon will be doing Megadrives 1's as well, both RGB.

TV, freeview, DVD and video set up.

Hi.
Modern day freeview boxes rarely have A modulator in them so you can not tune it to a channel on your tv it must be connected using scart lead.
Most freeview boxes have 2 scart sockets one for VCR & one for TV plug your scart leads in to the scart sockets of freeview they will be labled TV & VCR.
The scart labled TV goes to scart socket on the TV labled AV1 or 1
The scart labled VCR goes to scart socket on VCR labled AV or IN
Now the aerial leads From wall socket to ANT in on freeview.
Then from RF out on freeview to ANT in on VCR.
Then RF out on VCR to ANT in on TV doing this will enable you to put TV on 9 to watch tapes.

The final scart will be from DVD to TV socket marked AV2

You will need to put TV on AV channel to view freeview.
To record freeview you must put VCR to EITHER line.av,aux. it will be one of those different manufacturers call them by varying names.
I have done this banking on your tv having 2 scart sockets if it only has 1 let me know & I will tell you how to wire it differently.
Please state make & model of TV set & VCR & what connections are available EG scart, Phono, Svhs etc.

Can't re patch tv with set top box to watch tv

Hi.

Ok here goes.

1) Take airial lead from the wall socket in to antenna in on freeview box.

2) connect short usually black airial type lead in to antenna out socket on freeview. plug the other end of this lead in to aerial in on vcr.

3) connect the other end of this aerial type lead to airial plug on the back of tv.

4) now if you have 2 or more scart sockets on the back of tv set plug in the scarts in this order.
Freeview box scart with tv on it connect to scart 1 on tv set.
Freeview box vcr scart connect to vcr in scart socket on vcr.
Vcr scart marked tv plug scart from here to scart 2 on tv
If you have 3 scart sockets on tv you can connect dvd using scart to scart socket 3 on tv.

If Tv has only 1 scart the aerial leads will stay the same as I have stated,
Freeview must go to scart socket on tv set.
leave second scart from freeview to vcr plugged in so you can record freeview by putting vcr to line 1 or AV 1.
you will need to put tv on channel (0) & tune this channel to the video play a tape that you recognise then go to tv tuning & tune tv untill you see video playing then store this on channel (0).
DO NOT USE AUTO TUNING IT WILL PUT CHANNELS IN THE WRONG ORDER JUST USE MANUAL TUNING.

Now to view Dvd you will either need to purchase A scart switch box. Or have keep unpluging freeview scart from tv so you can plug in dvd .

If your tv has red yellow white phono sockets you can plug dvd in to these, you may need to purchase phono leads.

Hope this helps.

Tuning a samsung tv to a phillips dvd, a goodmans video and an akura freeview box

It sounds like you are trying to tune in the dvd and video to a free channel on your tv, I would suggest using the scart connection if your tv has one. Scart leads only fit in the one way so you cant go wrong. Scart leads are available everywhere including tesco.
Once the scart leadt isconnection between the dvd and the tv then use the AV1 button on your remote controll and you will get sound and picture in better quality than manual tuning.
